The Only Way to Beat Death

Death is stalking you every day.  Man is running to and fro today in confusion, trying their dead-level best to dream up another vain way in which they hope to beat death, with their silly religions, empty science, and worthless education.  But even now in 2009, the wages of sin is still death, and you know a wage is always earned, and we have all personally earned the wages of eternal death by our sins against the eternal God.  Now understand - the only way to beat eternal death is to trust and rely on the “One Person” who bled and died in your place; only One Man suffered and overcame eternal death for you.  Do you know Him personally?

What is death anyway?  Well, natural death is the separation of the body from the soul; the soul gives the body life.  But, spiritual death is the separation of the soul from God, who is its life.  When Adam sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, Adam lost his union of heart with God; his spirit underwent a dreadful death.  This spiritual death has passed upon each one of us by nature.  The Bible says, “He that believeth not on Christ is condemned already.” The position of every unbeliever is that of one who is dead in his sins by law, separated and alienated from the life of God.  Faith is divine strength which allows our empty hands to lay hold on Jesus for eternal life.  Faith is the divine ability that is given to us by God to follow, obey and please the Lord Jesus Christ with our daily thought life, speech and behavior.

Every lost sinner is under the wrath of God and registered among the eternally condemned in God’s book; they are under the sentence of eternal death.  Eternal death is the sure and just result of sin against God.  If you are out of Christ, you are constantly dreading death, the fears of hell haunts your soul, your conscience continually alarms you with apprehensions of the coming judgment of God.  If you only mention the word, “death,” in most places today, the very word “death” is horrible in ears of lost men.

You must die; it is inevitable, because you have sinned. By nature and by practice we are all sinners.  However good and refined you may seem before men’s eyes, in God’s sight you are unclean in your sin.  You have broken God’s law over and over again.  God’s law requires perfection, and you have been far from it.  The Law of God demands absolute, spotless holiness towards God in thought, word, and deed continually, constantly, and perfectly. In some point or other, you have transgressed God’s law, and you soul has become permanently polluted before the holy Jehovah. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.  God hates sin, and sin hates God. Sin is exceedingly hateful to God.

As long as you remain in your sinful state you are in daily danger of hell-fire. Hell is the spiritual leper colony of the universe, unsaved sinners must be confined there, because they have died in an incurable condition and are past hope. All of your religious observances and ceremonies can never wash you from your sin.  Human merit is as damnable as human sin.  Man cannot help his own soul, only God can help a sinner. Human methods of getting rid of sin are useless. You have committed many sins in your childhood and teenage years, and God remembers them all.  All your past sins are written down in God’s book of remembrance. There is no man that sinneth not.  You have secret sins that are stronger than your vain resolutions.

Your best works and nicest words are full of flaws.  God’s divine standard is so high that even the hatred in your heart is called murder, and your sexual lust is called adultery.  Even your hateful and lustful thoughts and looks are sins against God’s law.  The law condemns your sinful thoughts and desires, as well as your corrupt acts and words.  Your filthy imaginations and vile appetites have made you foul and unclean in the sight of God.  The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.  There is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.  But right now, there is a way to escape your self-condemnation.

O sinner friend, be ye reconciled to God.  God became a man, His name was Jesus Christ, He was sinless and holy, but He bore the sins of the whole world in His own body on Cross.  Jesus became what you are, sinful, so you could become what He is, righteous and perfect in God’s sight. God’s blood was spilt on Calvary’s Cross to pay the eternal death penalty for your sins.  Jesus suffered the wrath of God for you.  Christ died in your sins, so you could trust Him and die in His righteousness.  God’s blood is the only medicine for your sinfulness.

The Lord Jesus Christ, God in human flesh, willingly put Himself into the sinner’s place and whosoever will trust on Him, will be put into Christ’s place (accepted in the Beloved) by the grace and power of God. The needy sinner that trusts Christ alone, that man’s sins are not his sins anymore.  All his sins are put on Christ and put away forever, and Christ’s righteousness is eternally placed over that man’s soul.  That man’s sin shall never be imputed (charged) to him again. Christ suffered on the Cross for that sinner, Jesus poured out His life’s blood for him, He tasted death for that man.

Come now, with simple child-like faith, and cast your sin-sick soul on what Christ has done, come with a hearty faith, and you will hate the things you once loved.  Trust God’s blood alone, and you will begin to serve the God you once despised.  In the Old Testament, the offender brought a spotless lamb to make atonement for his offenses, and in the sinner’s place the innocent lamb was slain.  But now the Lamb of God Himself, the Substitute for sinners, from heaven has taken the sinner’s place, bearing the sinner’s sin, suffering in the sinner’s place and vindicating the justice of God, making it possible for God to be just and the Justifier of him that believeth on Jesus.  Sin must be punished, and it was punished in Christ’s death.  Your nature must be changed by the power of God. This is the only way to beat death: Trust in Christ’s death for you.  The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin.

Christ Jesus, God in human form, came down from heaven for us sinners, and for our salvation, and whosoever is a sinner, is invited to come to Christ immediately.  If you are self-righteous, you cannot wear the title, “Sinner,” and there is no gospel for you; You that are self-confident and self-sufficient, there’s only bad news for you, that is, the wrath of God abideth on you.  But, whosoever will confess that he is a real sinner, has the right to come to Jesus Christ right now.  Sinnership is the only title to salvation.  If you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner, then Christ died for you.  And if you put your trust in Him, and believe that He died for you, in your place, you may rely upon Him, and say, “Lord, I want to saved by your grace.”

Remember – your best works are good for nothing; you can gain nothing by them.  The gospel of the free grace of God is the only gospel that can deliver your soul from hell-fire.  Oh! trust not in your works or baptism, fix your trust only on Jesus and what He has already done for you.  Your own works are useless.  If you trust in yourself, you are like a man on a treadmill, you are only getting nowhere fast and wearing yourself out.   Come to Jesus Christ by faith. Believe in HIM; and after you have believed in Him, then, He will set you to working- working a new work in His strength, not yours. Christ will give you His works, if you will have faith - even the faith of Jesus Christ which is His free gift to you as well.  Ask Jesus to give you His faith now.

Turn your eye away from yourself to God.  Repent towards God:  turn your back on yourself and your sin; acknowledge your sinfulness and deep need to be saved.  You cannot help save yourself, and nobody on this earth can help you. Your sinful case is terminal, and apart from God’s divine grace, your are in deadly dilemma called sin, which is fatal and most dangerous. Your sin will not just go away, nor will any change of your outward condition eradicate it.

Turn, then, to the Great Physician and cry to Him, “Lord God, you made me, and you can mend me.  You made me, and you can make me over again.  I am a lost sinner indeed.  Oh Creator, Redeemer, Savior, you must save me.  Lord Jesus, have mercy on my sin-sick soul. Here is my sin, take it all away, please give me your robe of Righteousness to cover my soul in the presence of God.”

Stop looking to yourself, and to things on this earth, LOOK heavenward, LOOK UP to Christ.  Look to the bleeding Lamb, to the risen Redeemer.  If you look within yourself, you will only bring yourself deep despair, but if you look to Christ alone dying on the Cross in your place, and look only to the risen Christ at the right hand of God now, He will save you instantly by His grace. Jesus is “able to save to the uttermost all them that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.” To LOOK to Christ for free salvation is the only way to beat death.  Bring God into your dreadful situation; bring Christ into your trouble, He is your only hope and help.  If you are longing to be free from sin, Look to Christ, Look and live. Christ died on Calvary’s to set you free from your sin – Only God’s Blood can save you from the death, dominion, darkness and damnation of your sin.

The Lord Jesus Christ is God, as well as man. He is the Son of the Highest, and He came into this world to seek and to save lost sinners.  He took upon Him the form of man, and in that form He suffered and bled and died all alone for you, the Just for the unjust, to bring you to God.  Why, then, will you doubt Him?  The merits of God’s precious blood is exceeding great beyond compare, and He would have us believe only in its eternal power. The One who shed God’s blood on Calvary is your Maker; please let Him be your Redeemer.

The incarnate God died a shameful death to save guilty sinners like you. Believe only on the dying and risen Savior’s love, and rest your soul only upon Him.  This is the way of salvation - just to rest in Christ’s finished work.  As the coat hangs on the nail, even so, you must hang your soul on Christ alone.  As a baby lies in its mother’s arms without fear, so you must rest in the arms of Jesus.  You must be nothing, and Christ must be everything.

Turn your eye to the Bleeding Sacrifice of Calvary; cry out to God with your eye of faithonly upon the Lord Jesus. Plead the blood of Jesus, be earnest, use childlike pleading, plead for God’s free pardon of sin.  No lost sinner has ever been refused salvation that has truly sought God in prayer, looking only to Jesus Christ, repentantly trusting only in the obedience and blood of God the Son, and there shall never be such a sinner.  You can find Christ right now if you will only seek Him with your whole heart.  Pour out your heart before Him.  Remember - Jesus is the Friend of Sinners. If Christ rejects you, you will be the first sinner ever to be rejected by Him.  God, I acknowledge my present sinfulness, and tendency to sin against you repeatedly.

Dear Lord, tear up my sin by the roots.  Lord God, save me, I am so lost in sin, please save me by your Blood and Righteousness. There is so much sin in me, you know the strife, hardness, and rebellion of my wicked heart, I cannot overcome it, you must get rid of my sin; Lord, rid me of my sin, for Jesus’ sake. Jesus died in my place, I believe He can save me, God be merciful to ME a sinner, for your dear Son’s sake, for His blood’s sake, for His death’s sake, for His resurrection’s sake, I beg you to hear me.  Free salvation is available to you now.  Jesus Christ has beat death for you, there's for you to do - only trust HIM.  Go to a quiet place and seek the Lord Himself, tell Him you have sinned against Him, and ask Him to have mercy on you.
