Food for Thought 6

The keys to happiness:  Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.  Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in His commandments. Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in His ways. Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he. Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. If ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The main and chief part of knowledge is to fear God. A man that doesn’t fear God doesn’t have any sense at all. If you are not afraid of automobiles, they will run over you. A man that has good sense and that is normal fears disgrace, dishonor and failure.  A man that lives right has a good understanding. God please tell us what to do every day as we read your Bible. You can’t throw mud at other folks when you’re wallowing in it.  Stay in contact with God. Be willing to let God direct and control you. We know that we don’t know what we ought to know, let’s get on our knees and in the Bible.

The wise and practical man always makes preparation for the inevitable. Death, judgment, and Eternity are inevitable – Christ’s blood is the only preparation. Be prepared for life and Eternity. Don’t trim on the authority of the Bible. What this world needs is practical old-time Christianity. The Bible is never out of date. Jesus saves sinners, the Bible says so. Self-denial, self-control is key to happiness. In all things always put God first. Man has to die and go out into Eternity; and a man that won’t prepare for the inevitable is just plumb crazy.

Sin is a debt you can’t pay. The only way you can pay your debt for sin yourself is to die and go to Hell and stay there for forever and ever and ever. The wages of your sins is eternal death.  Jesus loved you enough to pay a debt for you that you could never pay. Love Jesus in return, that’s all He wants. Jesus said, "If ye love Me, keep My commandments." Don’t be an idler, get busy for Jesus Christ.  The thing that’s first in your life is your "God".

The doctrine of the Atonement - Jesus died on the Cross as a substitutionary, vicarious, sinless blood sacrifice to save sinners from the wrath to come. He died on your account; He bore your sins in His own body on the Cross. Jesus who knew no sin, He was made to be Sin for you. Jesus took your place. God is infinitely just, He could never save a sinner unless His divine justice was satisfied, God’s justice was eternally satisfied by Jesus’ sinless blood. Now all you have to do is receive Christ Jesus the Atonement and get a receipt from Him, and it’s all settled.

Pick up the cancelled note down at the Bank. I am a sinner, but Jesus, you died to save me, I have sinned against you, I can’t pay my sin debt, I can’t live right, I’m weak and wayward and wretched, please save me. Jesus paid it all, He handed me the cancelled receipt, the debt is all paid now. If you die and go to Hell, you will be an intruder, hell wasn’t made for you. Beg God to save your sinful soul for Jesus’ sake.

Like Paul in Acts 28, we should preaching the kingdom of God, that is, the Gospel.  We are to preach up Jesus as the King Messiah, and declared that His kingdom has come, and it consists not in meats and drink, but in righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost; which is the kingdom of grace here, and is within a regenerated man, in his heart, where grace reigns through righteousness, unto eternal life,  The way unto the kingdom of God is through regeneration and sanctification, through the justifying righteousness of Christ, it is a free gift for no sinful man has a right unto it.

We should also be teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ: His person, as God and man; His office as Mediator, Prophet, High Priest, and King; His incarnation and birth; His sinless life and divine miracles; His doctrine and obedience, His sufferings and bloody death; His burial and resurrection, ascension to God's right hand; His intercession, and second coming, millennial reign,  and white throne judgment.  We should teach the truths of the Gospel as redemption, peace, reconciliation and pardon, by His bloody atoning sacrifice, free justification by His righteousness, and eternal and immediate salvation and eternal life through faith in His precious blood.

God will take care of your needs. God will give you what you need to do His work. Pray according to the will of God found in the Bible. Pray everywhere; don't let something or someone get between you and God. There’s one thing a man can do everywhere and that is Pray. You’re not the right kind of Christian if you don’t take time to pray. God doesn’t hear selfish prayers. He won’t give you anything that is bad for you. Pray in line with the Bible.

Focus on the eternal essentials of the Christian faith - the inspiration of the Bible, the creation of man by the direct act of God, the incarnation and virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ as God manifest in the flesh, His identification as the Son of God, His vicarious Atonement for sinful mankind by the shedding of His precious blood on Calvary's tree, His burial and bodily resurrection from the tomb after three days to save men from sin, the New Birth through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, and the gift of eternal life by the Grace of God.

Religionists always stray off the path of life by overemphasis of a non-essential.  They are so interested in crossing their T's and dotting their I's, that they focus sinners' attention on some non-essential that can't save or help them spiritually.  The Pharisees were orthodox, but they had no spiritual life in them.  They split hairs, and then they split hell wide open.

The Bible tells us how to be saved and lay hold on life eternal, but it also tells us how to get through this world. We need a practical approach to the Bible. Only the Bible can comb the kinks out of your brain and straighten out the crooked places in your heart. There’s no such thing as an honest doubter of God’s words. There’s only one thing the matter with man and that is his sin. Pride keeps more people out of heaven than almost all other sins. Intellectual pride, religious pride, pride in position.

The devil will try to tell you this, "You don’t have to take orders from anybody, you can be somebody, you can be wise, you don’t need a god telling you what to do, what to eat and not to eat, you can be a god yourself, you know what’s what, go on be a god yourself, go on and live your own life, no one has any right to tell you how to live your life."

Human nature resents moral restraint and control. Man walks out on his Maker, and tries to be his own god. If you will do God’s will, you can know the truth. All we know about Jesus is what the Bible says. Stop strutting your stuff. If you take the doubts you have and pull them up by the roots, you’ll find hanging off the roots of those doubts some sin you love. It may be pride, vile impulses, or inordinate ambition leading you away from God. Sin makes you a troublemaker and a Christ rejecter. Personalities don’t count, principles are what matter.

All infidels, agnostics, and skeptics love their sin. You have doubts, because you’re not right with God.  The God that is the head of this universe and that runs things is the Lord Jesus Christ. God loved you enough to let Jesus die for you. Put no confidence in yourself, place all your confidence on Jesus’ blood and righteousness. Throw yourself at the feet of Jesus, and say, I cannot save myself, I am sinful and undone.  Jesus, I trust you alone, not myself.

The Bible is so. Whatever you do, do it God’s way. God’s kiss on the lost soul of man is the Gospel. The hardest thing in the world is to be a practical and sensible Christian in today's world. Christianity needs balance. Turn to God from idols (conversion), serve the living and true God (sanctification), and wait for Jesus from heaven (hope).  God's will is the only thing that should be done. Have you ever been born again and turned to God from idols? Your "God" is the thing that is first place in your life.  Any little or big thing you do, should be done in Jesus’ name and for Jesus’ sake. A home is not Christian that doesn’t put Christ first.

I’m only one, but I am one; I cannot do everything, but I can do something; What I can do, I ought to do; And by the grace of God, I will do.  God never leads to anybody to violate His word. Don’t get weary in well doing. Don’t faint, do your duty as a Christian in all the relationships of life.  We’ll find out just who’s who at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

Hit all the keys of Christianity: win souls to Christ, read Bible, pray, witness, have family prayer, win children, win neighbors, go to church. Let your light so shine, don’t get lop-sided. Don't just play a few notes over and over; that irritates folks.  By the grace of God, be a good well-rounded balanced all-round good everyday Christian. Always on the job for God, telling out the Gospel, witnessing, doing things for God in a simple way in Jesus’ name, looking up and waiting for Jesus from heaven.

Most of us over hit the same old note, and neglect most the other notes on the piano of Christianity.  We give over emphasis to some note that’s not that important. There are many different notes on the piano of Christianity; they are all important. Everything in the Bible is important, we shouldn’t skip any of it. Declare and follow the whole counsel of God. All scripture is profitable to us, and we shouldn’t neglect some parts of scripture, and put over emphasis on other parts.  Amateur pianists can only play a few notes. Be yielded, dedicated, faithful to Jesus.

Most people have just enough Christianity to make them uncomfortable. They have just enough of the world to keep them from enjoying Jesus, or just enough Jesus to keep them from enjoying the world.  If God is anything, He is everything. God is entitled to first place. He should be exalted above everything else. The thing that is first with you is your God. Stay surrendered to God; stay altogether on the altar for God. Unto the upright there riseth light in the darkness. *Psalm 112:4*  Jesus is all my Praise.
