You know the story - man had sinned against his Maker, and God the Just One must punish all sins. God in mercy devised the perfect plan by which His divine justice could be eternally satisfied, and divine mercy could be offered to guilty sinners such as you and me. Eternal Wisdom through the Gospel of Christ revealed to ignorant, sin-blinded man the plan by which the Son of God Himself should suffer for sins instead of us, so that divine justice might have its claims met in full, and yet mercy and grace enjoy their full sway toward the ungodly. Christ Jesus Himself was made to be Sin for us, though He knew no sin, so we could be made the Righteousness of God in Him.
The Lord Jesus Christ took upon Himself the full weight of all your sins and guilt. Jesus bore your sins in His own body on the Cross, and then the justice of God treated Jesus as if He had committed your sins. He was punished on the Cross as if He were the worst sinner that ever lived. He did all this especially for you. Jesus died for the whole world's sins, but He died for you personally. Jesus expects you to trust Him and turn from the sins you love so much. In those few hours that Jesus suffered on the Cross, the infinity of His nature enabled Him to render to God's justice a vindication that fully appeased God's anger toward your sins forever. Jesus was given up to shame, contempt, suffering, and death for your sinful soul. Fix your eyes now upon the bleeding Savior God. Lean with all your soul on Jesus' Blood to hold you up at the Judgment of God and keep you out of Hell. Count on Jesus Himself alone to get you past the Judgment, and not your good life. You will never actually come to Jesus Christ until you get fed up with your own sinfulness and selfishness.
The divine justice of God laid my guilt on Jesus, and punished it on Him, and then the love of God put Jesus to death, so that I might live eternally through Him. Make the signal clear to God, come to Jesus now as an unworthy sinner, and trust to His Precious Blood with all your heart. Christ died for your sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. If you take Him, He'll take you. By a simple act of faith, receive Christ into your innermost being, make the message loud and clear to God that you need His Son's Righteousness and Forgiveness. Trust Him right now with your sins and your soul.
Don't keep messing around and wind up hitting the Judgment unprepared. Death will soon corner you and hem you up into a corner of soberness and reality. Death is God's sheriff, and Death will soon lay his bony hand upon you, and arrest you in the name of Divine Justice which you have disregarded and despised all throughout your life. There will be no resisting Death, you'll have to go with him to face eternal punishment and retribution. Before that dread event happens to you, I beseech you to consider, contritely repent now towards God, and trust to the Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart.
God looks down from Heaven every day, and He marks all of your sins and ill behavior towards Him. When a man cannot pay God a penny for his sin debts and sincerely admits that to Jesus Christ, then he will be frankly and freely forgiven of all of his sins. As long as a man tries to do his best to pay what he owes to divine justice in the hope that Jesus Christ will make up the rest, there is no hope for that self-righteous man. Christ must do for you what you cannot do at all. Christ must be Everything to you, or else He will be nothing to you. You must be saved wholly by His Mercy, or else not at all. Stop trying to prove to God you are righteous; right now admit plainly to God that you are ungodly, and trust to Christ's Righteousness alone to save your helpless soul from the Hell you deserve. You cannot be saved by any of your own doings. Salvation must be all of Grace.
The justice of God makes sinners dread Him. When a man is guilty, he is always in fear of being found and arrested. Sooner or later, and even the later will not be long - you will have to stand before the Judgment and answer at the bar of inflexible justice for all your sins against your merciful Maker. You are indebted to the infinite Justice of God for all your rebellions against His Person and Law. Every sin you've ever committed has been directly against God Himself. All of your sins are recorded in Heaven's books, they are all written down in black and white in the handwriting that is against you. The Lord Jesus Christ has done perfectly that which enables God with Justice to have mercy on sinners.
How is Christ's Righteousness imputed to a guilty soul? The believer lays hold on Christ's Righteousness through simple childlike faith in His Atoning Blood. The very moment you completely abandon your own righteousness and lay hold on Christ's Righteousness, you then stand before God as Holy as the Holy One. Jesus' own atoning blood alone can discharge all your sin debts.
Jesus paid all the righteous demands and claims of divine justice for me. Christ stepped into my shoes, paid all my debts, and now my heinous sinful record is justly struck out and expunged eternally from the record books of God. I have stepped into Christ's shoes, and now I am freely saved from the consequences due to my sins.
The devil uses this world's system to keep your mind on everything but the real issues, and the real issues are your soul, your sins, and the Blood of Jesus Christ. Human nature avoids truth and reality, it gets away into seclusion and delusion, and does not care to be spoken to about sin and Christ. Human nature is against God, has no use for God, and strives against God. Self-righteous human nature refuses to be saved freely by the infinite merits and matchless Precious Blood of God manifest in the flesh. Unregenerate human nature tempts the justice of God and rejects the mercy of God.
Lost men get really nervous and sensitive when you bring up their sins or the blood of Jesus Christ. There is no difference, all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. You have sinned, you've done it more than once, and if your sins are not forgiven, you are in extreme danger. Sin is thinking about yourself, magnifying yourself, thinking you can save yourself, being envious of others, and being lazy and not doing your best. Men want to get rid of the Bible, because the Bible is against them and condemns them. You were born in sin, you are spiritually dead in your sins, you have a sinful nature that is inclined to sin continually, and if you say you have no sin, you deceive yourself, and the truth is not in you.
You have an evil propensity to do wrong, and you are basically bad through and through. There is not a grain of true goodness in you. Human nature enjoys those things that are illegal, immoral, or fattening. You have not continued in God's Law, and you stand accused and condemned before God right now. You have offended the justice of God every day of your life, and the wrath of God abides on you. *John 3:36* You are impure and polluted within continuously by your sin nature. Sin will never profit you. You cannot go to Heaven with your sins unpardoned. You have a natural tendency to love darkness rather than light because your deeds are evil. There is something very wrong with you; it is called Sin. The sin nature you have within you continually flies in the face of God.
On Calvary's Cross, the Atonement was completed, Love incarnate bled to death, justice was satisfied, human sin was paid for, and the Law was honored. You have personally committed sins, and God cannot love you in your sins, for you have offended His infinite justice. Sin is hurtful and injurious to your soul, and brings ruin and destruction upon yourself. One day you will face the dreadful verdict of eternal Judgment. Christ Jesus suffered in my place, and I am now clear before God's bar of divine justice, for Jesus' sake alone. Jesus' own Blood fulfilled the Law and satisfied divine justice for me. Jesus made full satisfaction to divine justice for me, and now I am justified eternally in Him.
Without Jesus Christ, every day you become more and more corrupt, and become more hardened by the deceitfulness of your sins. You transgress God's law, affront His justice, provoke His mercy, incur His wrath, and have nothing to pay. But God became a Jewish man in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, in order to satisfy God's law and justice, and to make Reconciliation for us and pay all our sin debts. My sins have been placed on Jesus' record and account, my transgressions have been imputed to Him, and charged to the Lamb of God, for He bore my sins, and the punishment due to my sins, and satisfied divine justice for all of them. Every transgression of the law (thought, word, or deed) and disobedience must receive a just recompense of reward. Jesus will take the devil's castaways when the devil gets through with them. The devil was through with me, and I came to Jesus and trusted Him, and now I belong to Jesus. Jesus only saves nobodies who realize they are guilty sinners.
Every violation of God's Law has a penalty connected with it, every slight breach of it much be punished, and its penalty requires eternal death, and your sins which are crimes against Heaven are subject to the strict justice of God. On the Cross, Jesus suffered all that the Law and Justice of God could require. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Jesus came to earth to die for your sins, He came to die in your place, so you could escape the wrath to come on your sins. Christ has paid all my debts, He has procured my Pardon with His own innocent blood, He has worked out a perfect Atonement and Reconciliation for me. Jesus finished the work that was required for human sin. On the Cross right before He died, Jesus cried, "It is finished!" There is nothing left for you to do, but to simply trust what Jesus has already accomplished for you. There is no safe approaching to God without the Mediator who has made peace with God through His Blood and Righteousness. The justice of God and His judgment are coming. Flee to the Cross and Jesus' Blood now for safety. All my iniquities on Jesus were laid, He nailed them all to the Tree, Jesus the debt of my sins fully paid, He paid the Ransom for me.
