You are saved from sin only because Jesus suffered. Every man is a total moral failure and flop. Religion says that if you suffer in some way you can earn the favor of God. The only way a man can do good is to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ first. You can’t be good in yourself. You’re really bad, sin has cursed you, and you can’t make yourself good by doing good, kind, charitable, friendly, humanitarian, neighborly deeds in the sight of man. Men love to put on and strut around. Human nature says, "God, I’ve done this and that, so now I want you to save me for the sake of what I have done for you." You can’t earn or pay for salvation, salvation is priceless, only Christ could pay for it. Every deed done in Jesus’ name for His sake is a good deed. Anything you do to help save yourself is evil indeed. Be a good wife, husband, father, mother, or employee for Jesus’ sake. If your heart is pure, you can see God. Brag about Jesus Christ, not yourself. If you had any sense, you'd be seeking Jesus Christ now. Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. Jesus must be your Substitutionary Lamb first, before He is your Lord.
Having a sympathetic heart, or being good to animals, or being charitable to men can't help save you. Men do good deeds in name of humanity. No man is good in God’s sight who rejects Jesus Christ. The best act of the best man that ever lived on earth presented to God as a claim on God for salvation is not good act, it is nothing but a filthy rag. You are only good in God’s sight when you have Christ’s Righteousness. If you ever go to Heaven, you will have to be clothed from head to toe in Christ’s Righteousness, and not one stitch of your own righteousness will help at all.
You 'must' to be born again. You have to trust Jesus Christ. You ought to trust Jesus right now. You have no excuse; you can be a righteous man in God’s sight now, by rejecting your own righteousness, and trusting only Christ’s Righteousness to protect you from the wrath to come. Fling away your human goodness, and fix your trust on Christ’s blood and righteousness. That is the only way you can become a righteous man in God’s sight. You can’t really do good in God’s sight until you trust Christ with your soul. Right now, wholly and definitely trust what Christ did on the Cross for you, and nothing else. The essential thing is to settle the salvation of your soul, to fix the destiny of your soul by giving up your sins and confiding in Christ’s doing and dying. If you are saved, you have an affinity for the Gospel. A real Christian responds to Jesus Christ.
Your feelings will lead you astray most of the time; make sure your feelings harmonize with the truths of Scripture. Christians fellowship around Jesus Christ and the Bible; atheists fellowship around Darwin and evolution. Every man spends his money and thoughts on his god. Doing good will inevitably follow the right kind of Christian faith. Do all the good works you can after you trust Christ, but never trust those works to save you. We work only because we are saved, going to heaven, love Jesus, and delight to please Him out of adoring gratitude. Poor weak frail bumbling blundering helpless sinners can never help save themselves. You have no good thing about you naturally. Never sacrifice principle on the altar of convenience, and never substitute human effort for faith in God's Son. America is getting farther and farther away from God. Dedicate your life to God. Love and Follow Jesus - this is Right. If a man doesn’t believe in God, he is not a decent man. Never stand near an atheist in a thunderstorm. Lord, keep us true to you. Be true to the word of God.
The Holy Bible is a Practical Book. The Bible tells you how to go to Heaven through Jesus Christ, and how stay out of Hell Fire. Man will always make a mess of things if you give him enough education, religion, or money. Prepare for the Eternity Emergency, you can die any minute, you better be ready to meet God, prepare for inevitable, you have to meet God, that must be settled, be prepared to die. The best preparation a man can make for this life is to make preparation for Eternity. Make preparations to meet God. Sit down and face life and death, check things with the word of God, get some advice about Eternity. Be a real, practical, sensible Christian. Figure on the worst, hope for the best. Know what to do, and what not to do. Check on your life with the Bible. Anything contrary to the Bible is the wrong thing.
