He who loves Christ hates his sins. For Christ's sake quit your sinning against God and others. The love of Jesus consumes sins, and faith in Him purifies your heart. The love of Christ consoles, cleanses, sanctifies, strengthens, makes us tender toward others, gentle, compassionate, and a true zeal for God. Definite and thorough Christians are hated by the world. The worldling will report and magnify any flaw in your character. Here is Sin - It is an evil thing which hates God. Sin is uncleanness, loathsome, and an abominable evil against God. Heinousness, blackness, and accursed nature of sin. The very thought of iniquity, uncleanness, or falsehood is abhorred of God. Naturally, innately, you have enough meanness in you to damn you straight to Hell. A horror for our sins drives us to communion with God.
There is no way possible for you to purge away your own sins. Your sins must be put in check and resisted. Nothing of yours can remove the horrible blot, the fatal stains, the defilement of sin on your soul. There is no means of removing human sin but one - the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Human nature loves the forbidden. God delivered up His own Son to death, so the sins of men could be purged and put away forever. The atoning Sacrifice of the Lamb of God is the only hope of sinners. Jesus was taken to the Cross as a lamb to the slaughter, your sins were laid upon Him. There He died the Just for the unjust. Jesus was made to be Sin for us, that we might be made the Righteousness of God in Him.
Jesus is the divine Satisfaction (Propitiation) for human sins. God's divine justice is only satisfied by Christ's atoning blood. You're in a whole heap of trouble in your natural state. Man is a very fickle creature. No dependence can be wisely placed in yourself. The more you look at Jesus Crucified, the more you will mourn for your sins. Look much to Jesus Christ, and you will hate your sins much. Live and love at Calvary. Look to the Cross till all that is on the Cross is in your heart. Look to Jesus until He looks at you. Steadily and fixedly view the Suffering Savior, the Crucified Creator. Remember this - your sins murdered your Maker. Mourn more and more for your sins.
Jesus suffered in the place of guilty men - this is the Gospel. The substitution of Christ for the sinner is the essence of the Gospel. Our main topic will always be Christ Crucified for guilty sinners. This is the chief attraction for sinful men. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. Hate your sins that crucified the good and gracious Incarnate God. The stripes of Jesus applied to your heart work repentance in you, and you begin to hate your sins because they made Jesus suffer, bleed, and died. With His stripes we are healed from the love of sin. Divine Justice cannot demand a recompense twice for the same sins. Jesus suffered for sins, once you trust Him, your sins are paid for, you are clear forever.
The bleeding Substitute bore my guilt, and I do not bear it any more. No condemnation to me any more. We are safe because Jesus died for us, and we are acceptable before God because Jesus is accepted, that is the only reason. We must go free, no one can touch us, we are clear forever. Behold the Savior, trust His bleeding, pardoning love. Looking unto Jesus, coming to Jesus, resting in Jesus, trusting to Jesus, following Jesus, let that be a complete description of your life. Rest in His Great Sacrifice more every day, rest more implicitly in His finished work. We are entrusted with the Good News of the Gospel, we can't keep it a secret from lost sinners. Love Jesus best of all. Dwell at Calvary, live at the Throne of Grace.
Think more and more of Christ Jesus who loved you to death. God was manifested on earth in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. The Creator showed up here on earth as a Jewish pauper. *II Corinthians 8:9* He had to be fed and cared for. Jesus loved you to death, so He could redeem you from the eternal death which your own sins deserved. Faith in the atoning Sacrifice of the Incarnate God. *I Timothy 3:16* Rebellion, stubbornness, lying, gossip, cheating, stealing, self-pity, exaggeration, slander, deceit, lust, selfishness are all the enemies of God. The resident (Holy Spirit) should be President, the boarder (Spirit of Christ) should be the Boss.
After you are born again, your sins will become an irritant to you. Atheists worry about everything but their sins and the eternal salvation of their souls. The chief matter is the free Forgiveness of Sins from Jesus Christ Himself. The chief delight of God is in His Son. To know Jesus is the first and chief and highest knowledge. The chief work of the Holy Spirit is to strip you of your self, and bring you to receive the simple word of God. The Gospel is so simple to understand, that is why human nature kicks against it so. The simple act of trusting Jesus justifies the ungodly eternally. Eternal salvation is the simple act of trusting to the Savior. The very essence of salvation lies in childlike dependence upon Jesus alone. Love Jesus more and more, and you will hate your sins more and more. Ask God for a clean heart, right spirit, and an upright life. *Luke 7:47*
