Freely is a Bible word that the self-righteous carnal mind cannot understand. Believing is, relying upon, leaning, trusting - relying is simple but sincere dependence upon the Atonement that paid for all your sins. Salvation comes to the believer freely by faith in Jesus' Blood, a thing of the heart in the Spirit. Trust in the Christ who died on Calvary for sinners. Forsake your own righteousness, and depend only upon what He has done. Do not try to prepare yourself for Jesus. Trust Jesus to save you, and He will do it all freely.
Believing is Trust, trust in the Christ of God who died upon the Cross, that through His merit He can remove the guilt and punishment of human sin. Trust in that Christ who rose from the dead and is gone into Heaven, by the power of His eternal Spirit. He can cleanse us from the dominion, power, and habits of sin. Believing is to trust Jesus, to rely upon His Blood and Righteousness. Rely upon Jesus Christ Himself now. The Incarnate God's Precious Blood is all my dependence in time and Eternity. *Colossians 1:14* *I Peter 1:19* Simply to trust Jesus - that is the needful thing, to rely upon Him - that is all.
Jesus only died for the guilty. His Blood was shed for the foul and filthy. You must rely upon the Crucified and Risen Savior. It will be the highest wisdom on your part to rely upon Jesus. Rely upon His great Atoning Sacrifice. The great transaction, the great transference, the great lifting of sin from the sinner to the sinner's Savior. Salvation is free if you will simply take it from Jesus for nothing. The punishment of the Substitute instead of the sinner, the pouring out of God's wrath due to the sinner, upon the head of the Substitute.
The grandest transaction is when Jesus Christ was made Sin for us, that we might be made the Righteousness of God in Christ. The spotless Savior bore the sin of the guilty, so that He becomes Sin. God took from the innocent Savior His Righteousness, and puts it to the account of the once guilty sinner, and the sinner becomes Righteousness. Redemption by Blood, Salvation by Substitution. The whole weight of my sin was laid upon Jesus, He was bruised beneath God's Vengeance. God alone knows what agonies Jesus bore on Calvary's Cross. Don't let your sins depress and distress you, let your sins show you how much you need the Savior. Draw near to the Crucified Creator of Calvary.
The Incarnate God offered up atonement for my sins. Believe in the real and literal Substitution of Christ for the ungodly. Avow His Atonement boldly and publicly. Salvation by Substitution. Jesus' merits and Blood are all my trust before God. The great central Truth of Substitution, Christ suffering in the sinner's place. Free Justification by Faith in His Atoning Blood. The simple command of Believe and Live. *Acts 16:31* You can be saved from the love of sin, saved from your old dirty habits.
Let your heart contemplate Christ often. The eternal purpose of God, the effectual working of the Holy Spirit, through the Atoning Sacrifice of the Lamb of God. God will only forgive your sins, because it has been fully atoned for by the sufferings and Blood of His dear Son. Enter into a personal covenant relationship with God through relying Christ's Bloody Sacrifice and Resurrection. Jesus is the only atoning Sacrifice for human guilt. He suffered all alone to make recompense to the divine justice of God for our sins.
Jesus' sufferings are a full recompense to God for all that my sins have done to hurt God, and He made an effectual atonement for all my transgressions that have dishonored God. I trust my soul upon His great Blood Atonement. I rest my soul on Him, and His Blood saves me forever. Saving faith leads to humble and adoring gratitude. He bids me forsake my sins, and I shall do it by His help. Implicitly trust the bloody death, merits, and agonies of the Incarnate God. Jesus bore vengeance of God that due to my sins. Turn the eye of Faith to His Blood where the Propitiation lies. The "CROSS" is the New Testament "short term" for the substitutionary sufferings and atoning Sacrifice of God manifest in the flesh. Look with your heart always to the Cross. Give the faith look to Jesus who died upon the Cross as the sinner's Substitute. Live with dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
