Mephibosheth was Jonathan's son, and Saul's grandson. (See 2 Samuel 9) Saul was the enemy of David, but David still chose to shew kindness and have Mercy on Mephibosheth, for Jonathan's sake (Ephesians 4:32). Mephibosheth was born into a rejected family, experience a fall which crippled him, he was without strength, and couldn't help himself; he was perishing and pining away in deep poverty; he dreaded King David who turned out to be his best Friend; he separated from the King in a far country, like a rebel he was dwelling in a dry land, missing out on the Best, living in Lodebar (place of no pasture, lack of provision, despair) as a dead dog. King David made the first move and sought out the undeserving soul; he made a personal house call; King David extended unexpected mercy and kindness to Mephibosheth, for Jonathan's sake. Mephibosheth was hungry and clothed in filthy rags, but behold a royal chariot arrives at his door with King David's seal upon it. The King sent and fetched the poor Mephibosheth. The king's messengers delivered a personal invitation to Mephibosheth from the KING himself. Mephibosheth was wise and responded: he took advantage of the King's invitation, he went to the King personally, fell on his face, and did reverence, but David had Mercy on him, for Jonathan's sake. Mephibosheth ate bread continually at the King's table, as one of the King's sons, adopted into the King's family, and he was lame on both his feet, always needing the King's help all the days of his life, the King graciously provided for his every need.
All I can do, the Spirit of God helping me, is to point dying sinners to the living LORD JESUS CHRIST; direct them to the CROSS; compel them to come to JESUS for Refuge; and persuade them to simply trust in His Precious Blood alone for the forgiveness of Sins. JESUS has saved my Soul; I wish you were saved too.
You are poor, helpless, weak, and miserable in your sins today; but the chariot of Mercy awaits you know, the Way to KING JESUS is paved with His bleeding love. The chariot of Grace will carry you to the KING away from your poverty, degradation, woe. Be ye reconciled to God today, by the Grace and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let JESUS' divine Love wash away and overcome your Evil. JESUS' Grace is much more powerful than your sins. Your iniquities will be dissolved by His goodness. You are full of sin from head to foot, but simply fall down and do reverence at the KING's pierced feet, and say to Him: "I have nothing to boast of, nothing to pay, nothing to trust to but YOU and your free Mercy. As soon as you become nothing, that is when Christ Jesus will become everything to you. You're in a desperate state; your Soul is filled a disease, infirmity, corruption called SIN which may suddenly at any time launch your helpless Soul out into Eternity with no hope of Eternal Life. You are nearing the grave now without hope, dying with no Christ to help you. You're sinking in quicksand, burning in a house, leave off your buts and excuses. Come to JESUS now with no conditions, preparations, or objections. Drop your weapons, the sins you love so dearly. Come to JESUS with your empty, thirsty Soul, and Receive the full refreshing Christ, The Water of LIFE. You may as soon sail to India on a rotten plank as get to heaven by your own goodness. You may as well attempt to sail the stormy Atlantic upon a paper boat, as hope by any means to get rid of your own iniquities by doing better, or your past sins by future goodness. Stop attempting to put out the raging wildfire of your Sin with the water pistol of your religiousness. Away with your filthy rotten rags of self-righteousness eat up with the parasites of pride and unbelief. May the Holy Spirit make you conscious of your misery, feel your poverty and emptiness within. The Holy Spirit will empty you entirely and cause you to THIRST for the WATER OF LIFE. Come to JESUS entirely empty, and let Him fill you, come to HIM naked to be clothed, come to HIM lost to be saved. Trust JESUS with your Soul; Give your dead Soul over into His hands; Leave all behind, your good and bad, come Empty to be filled by JESUS. Verily every man at his state is Altogether Vanity; Surely every man walketh in a vain show. Your spiritual wallet is exceedingly empty. Simply to be empty, to have nothing at all in you. All that is wanted is an empty place, a thirsty heart, a starving soul, an aching void. KING JESUS filleth the hungry Soul with His good things, but the rich He hath sent Empty away. A filthy man is fit to be washed; a poor man if fit to be relieved; a sick man is fit to be healed. Only empty hungry mouth will Receive the Living Bread of LIFE. Your Soul flat on its face before JESUS, lying there at His feet, that's when He will have Mercy on you. The carnal mind is puffed with empty boastings, but hungry sinners are never proud haughty scorners. Empty out all your vile sins at JESUS' feet. Leave all your cares, fears, troubles, difficulties, trials in JESUS' hands. You can doubly sure of your Salvation: Trust only to JESUS' Precious Blood and Perfect Righteousness, and go on your way rejoicing. When a sinner trusts Jesus Christ, his sins are all forgiven forever, his guilt is all gone, and the matter of Salvation is completely settled for all Eternity. There is a Precious Christ for lawless outcasts; There is a Rich Christ for begging starving Souls. Whosoever believeth on the Son of God hath Everlasting Life JESUS will Give unto the Soul that is athirst of the fountain of the WATER OF LIFE FREELY. Whosoever will, let him take the WATER OF LIFE FREELY. Your Soul can only be Saved/Spared by God's Precious Blood. May the Spirit of God be preparing your heart to seek the Lord Jesus Christ by giving you an awareness of your danger, and a deep sense of your desperate need for God's Free Mercy in Christ Jesus.
