The atheist's private darling lust, which they love and will not give up, will inevitably doom their lost soul. Atheistic Christ rejectors don’t want anyone to know how they really live in private. But the eyes of the Lord and in every place beholding the evil and the good. Your most loved sin that gives you the greatest carnal pleasure must be given up and abandoned, or your soul will be damned. If you live in secret lust, your whole life is an awful lie, and empty vanity. Human pride is natural to you, and you cannot get rid of it by your efforts. Your god is your own belly, therefore you obey your carnal appetites. You are a servant of your own body and your baser passions, a slave to your own lusts, to your own selfish gains, and to your own sinful appetites and pleasures.
You greedily serve your sins every day. But you must renounce your dirty ways, old habits, and filthy iniquities. Christ offends atheists because His Gospel is intolerant of sin and the love of it. Only Christ can renew your vile nature; Only Christ can create within you a clean heart. Darling sins must be forsaken if Christ is to be enjoyed. Human nature feeds on the garbage of sin and drink from the ditch of iniquity. You have the nature of a vulture which loves the filthy dead things of self and this world; now understand - only Christ can give you a new divine naturewithin which will love to feast on the pure and wholesome things of God - His Son and Scriptures.
The main reason you continue to reject Christ is because you are clinging to some pet evil you cannot give up, which sin will be your everlasting ruin. The reason why the Bible and Jesus Christ troubles atheists is because they interfere with their sinning. The atheist says in his heart, "If I become a Christian, I cannot live as I have been accustomed to live, so I will not believe in Christ, I will reject the Gospel. Christ will cost me my sin and reputation, and I would rather keep on in my sin than give up my way." The true reason any many questions and rejects the Bible is an ungodly private life. If you probe to the bottom of the matter, some secret sinful pleasure is the reason for a man's unbelief or atheism.
This is the real reason for atheism: they cannot and will not give up their favorite sins. The atheist will not give up his sin, so he gets troubled when a Christian witnesses to him about the Gospel and Repentance and Faith in Christ. The atheist abhors moral purity. It is a terrible thing to cling to sin. Quit your sin, or quit all hope of eternal life. Will you have your sins and go to Hell, or will you leave your sins and go to Heaven? There is no other alternative. You must say, "NO LONGER!" You cannot have Christ and Sin - they are diametrically opposed. Your conscience will tell you what sin it is that keeps you from Christ. Resolve to quit loving your sin, and trust in the Savior. Drinking, lusts, prejudice, self-love, love of sinful pleasure, bad company, self-righteousness, gambling, pilfering - all these weighty anchors are stuck in the mud and must be pulled up before you can go to Christ. Your favorite lusts are keeping you from Christ. Self-sacrifice for others and moral purity is what the Gospel will put into your heart. Seeking to be pure and endeavoring to glorify the good and forgiving Savior. Sin is deadly and damnable, poisonous and perilous. You cannot control yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit to take away your darling sin, and make it distasteful to you.
Christ wants to save you *from* your sins, not in them; it is essential to salvation that sin should be repented of, and being repented of, should be renounced, and that, by the help of God, we should lead a new life, under a new Master and Lord, serving Christ from a new heart and motive, because the grace and love of God has renewed our spirit. Atheists cannot hear the voice of God, because there is sin in the way, some pet sin, and they are not wise enough to realize what they hear and take heed to will either save them or damn them. Man's good works religions do nothing but muddy and confuse the Free Salvation which Christ offers to ungodly sinners. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved from the love and penalty of sin. You don't have to DO anything, Christ Jesus did it all long ago, all you have to do is fix your faith in His finished work alone.
The Gospel is a simple invitation to not do anything, but receive and rely on the Finished, Perfect Blood Atonement of Jesus Christ for human sin. Man's pride kicks at the simple Gospel, they think that are 'pretty good' and that their good works should count for something. You see, there's no free lunch, but Christ does offer bankrupt sinners Free Salvation. Salvation is free, but it's not cheap - your personal sin cost Jesus Christ His life and blood. Jesus Christ loved you to death, and He wants to redeem you sin's clutches by His Blood. The self-righteous are offended that nothing that they have done or ever will do will be acceptable to God to help save them. You can never be saved until you accept the facts that can you do nothing that can be acceptable to Christ, and that you are Nothing. You see, you're a sinner and nothing you do is acceptable to a holy God, because everything you do is tainted with your sin and selfishness. You must give up your deadly doings, surrender and submit, and stretch your sinful soul out on Jesus Christ and REST on His sinless blood and perfect righteousness and trust HIM to hold your defenseless soul up at death. There's only one right answer when it comes to getting rid of your sin and guilt - His NAME is Jesus Christ.
You have misspent your whole life, all because you love sin. Every day, you are venturing closer and closer toward eternal wrath. Be wise - Repent - turn from your love of sin - Part with your darling sins, and Put your trust in Christ, come under the shadow of the Cross where Jesus bled for you, lay down your love of sin there at the foot of the Cross, find a refuge from the vengeance of God. Believe in Jesus Christ, put your sinful soul into His hand. Jesus is the Sinner's Savior - He saved sinners by His blood - Prepare to meet your Maker - Make Jesus your only hope and trust. Trust Christ now and you are Accepted in the Beloved, called by Grace, preserved in Christ Jesus, Redeemed by Blood, Heaven Born, and Heaven Bound.
