Saving Faith 9

Faith is seeking to know Jesus Himself and what He teaches.  Turn to the record of Scripture, see who Jesus was, His commission, His message.  Believe what He taught, accept what He declared as being true.  Receive Jesus as God manifest in the flesh, believe on Him, accept that the witness of Christ is true.  A genuine coming to Christ is to cast your soul into His hands and trust to His blood and mercy.

I have no dependence for life, death, or Eternity, except on the Person and merits of the Son of God.  He was born of a Jewish virgin, He lived a life of true holiness, He bore our sins and died on the tree, He rose again from the dead the third day, and now He ever lives to make intercession for us.  The simple act of trusting to Jesus saves the guilty soul.  The moment a sinner casts himself upon what Christ has done, with no reserve, without holding to any other hope, that sinner is saved and regenerated.  The moment a sinner makes himself to be a bankrupt, gives up all his self-righteousness, and lives upon the charity of Christ; the very moment he takes off his own rags completely, and puts on no garment but the Righteousness of Christ, that man is saved instantly.

When you can't trace Jesus, just trust Him.  When you can't find Him, faith Him.  The essence of saving faith is to trust in Christ, hearty dependence and reliance upon Him.  Genuine faith is a belief that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that He is the Atonement for human sin.  Bible faith is a trusting in the finished work of Christ to save you from your sins.  Without Jesus you can do nothing, either before you're saved, or after you're saved.  If you were ever in prison for a year, no one would ever convince you that your imprisonment was not a real thing; and after you were set free, no one could ever make you believe that there was no difference between freedom and captivity.  There is also a great difference between being captive to sin and being freed from sin, and only the saved soul can testify to the vast difference between the freedom in Christ and captivity in sin.

True faith is come to Christ empty-handed for everything; to come naked, and take His Robe of Righteousness; in fact, to have done with your own doings, and to put your whole reliance in the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and what He has done.  The faith of Christ is a simple, honest confidence that depends on what Christ has done for sinners.  The simple but divine gift of Eternal Life comes freely to the soul which believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Great Sin-Bearer.  Never excuse your sins, confess your failures, and keep on fighting by the Grace of God against your sins throughout life.

Nothing but Jesus Himself do I trust, what He has done is all my Rest and Safety for time and Eternity.  Believe now in the power of His Atoning Sacrifice - His pardoning Blood.  The main business of Faith is to trust in Christ when you feel your sins' guilt and burden.  Faith is leaving it all to Christ, because you can do nothing to save yourself.  Faith is to believe personally that Christ died especially for me, and to simply rely upon His Blood for the free forgiveness of all my sins.  Trust Jesus now with your soul, and then trust Him with everything else from day to day in your life.

Scriptural Faith is a simple and utter dependence in the faithfulness of God, and a childlike dependence upon the promises of God and a cleaving to the Promiser Himself.  Faith is a reliance with all your heart upon what God has said and Christ has done.  Faith in Christ's Blood brings eternal life, free pardon, and eternal salvation to your soul.  Receiving Christ by faith into your heart is a miracle initiated by the Holy Ghost Himself.  Ask God for real Faith and true union with Christ.  True faith in Jesus' blood purges the soul.  True faith and ardent love to Jesus is needful.

Childlike trust in God Incarnate, gladsome praise of God, and hearty communion with the Holy Ghost is what God is looking for from us.  Ask God for more grace to walk worthy of His calling.  We must maintain a childlike spirit before Jesus, and a childlike obedience to every bidding of Christ.  We need a childlike fear which fears to offend the Lord or to grieve His Spirit.  We need a fear of God which restrains our wandering evil passions, to keep our minds pure, to keep our hands from doing evil, and our tongues from speaking evil.  Always realize you are in God's presence, and act, speak, and think because the Eye that reads the secrets of every heart is watching.

Simple childlike love, and confidence in Jesus.  Faith gratefully ascribes all praise to God. Ascribe ye greatness unto God - Jesus Christ the Lord.  Place before sinners the scriptural truth of the Atonement in the Substitution of Christ for sinners.  The great doctrine of the Atonement offered for human sin by the Son of God upon Calvary's Cross.  The "Cross" is the New Testament "short term" for substitutionary suffering, for the Atoning Sacrifice, for the offering up of the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.  *II Corinthians 5:19-21; Romans 3:24-26; I John 2:2; I John 4:10*

Christ Jesus took my sins, He bore them in His own body on the tree, He was punished for my sins in my place, that the claims of divine justice would be met by the bloody death of the Incarnate God.  He was made a Curse for me, that I might be blessed of God in Him.  God made Jesus to be Sin for me, who knew no sin, that I might be made the Righteousness of God in Him.  Jesus actually suffered to vindicate divine justice on my behalf, and He endured divine wrath instead of me, and took all the punishment due to my sins.

Always exalt Jesus Christ and His Atonement.  His Atonement has all my confidence.  Trust only to the Person of Jesus Christ, place your steadfast confidence in His finished work, fix your faith in His Atoning Sacrifice.  Jesus made Atonement for my sins, not His example, but His sufferings and bloody death paid for my sins.  His body suffered, inwardly His soul was punished, and His sinless spirit suffered.  God is pleased to pardon me only because Jesus has suffered and bled for my sins. Christ and His Atonement are my only Hope.  The Blood, the Atoning Blood, the Precious Blood, there only does my Salvation lie.
