Religion's Maze

Are you trapped today in the religious maze of do's and don'ts? If you are, stop play-acting - stand still, and look to Jesus Christ Himself, behold the Lamb of God, for Everything your longing soul needs. And then, the walls of the religious maze will come tumbling down. There is a great difference between human religion that is made up of “Do, do, do” and Christ's religion that is spelt “D-O-N-E, Done.” He who has Christ's religion of “It is all done,” loves God out of gratitude, and serves Christ because he is saved from wrath, and delivered from the love of sin; but he who has the religion of “DO” is always a slave to men, he never gets salvation, but perishes in his own doings, as they deserve to do who look to themselves, instead of simply looking to Christ's Precious Blood and Perfect Righteousness.

Now understand - Christ is Everything, and you are Nothing (John 3:30). Simply and entirely rest in Jesus Christ, that is all that is needed. Your place is to be nothing at all, just to be a nobody, simply trust and love Jesus Christ, and never trust or love yourself. Blessed is the man that is afraid of his own goodness and self-righteousness. Religion makes a man a proud wind-bag, but the Cross shall put a pin into it. Growing less and less in your own esteem is the right kind of growth. Naturally and physically we grow from childhood into manhood, but spiritually we grow down from manhood to childhood. We must be reduced to a condition of nothingness by the Grace of God. Glad to be nothing, content at His feet, just to let Him be Everything, and let Self sink away. Your safety is to be nothing. You must be poverty, and He must be the riches. You must be the beggar, and He must be the King. Praying will help you leave off sinning, or else sin will make you leave off praying.

You must rely on the Spirit of God, never rely on anything in yourself. Only the Holy Ghost can pop the swelling bubble of religiousness. Once He does, there will nothing left of you. The Holy Spirit must first bring us to extreme spiritual poverty. We must be emptied of our own power. We have nothing to be proud of. Meditate much on Christ's Greatness and your nothingness. There's nothing for you to do, nothing for you to be. Let Christ have the preeminence. You are always safe if you seek to walk humbly with God, and your entire dependence is on the Grace and Mercy of God. Self is nothing but vanity, deceit, and death. Blessed is the man that begins to feel his own emptiness. A sinner has no claim to God's grace, except for Jesus' sake. There is no merit at all in a lost or saved sinner. Let your Bible be everything to you, read it, read it, and read it again; let its precepts rule and transform your life; let its promises cheer your life; let its light gladden your life. As you love God, love His Book (AV 1611). The King James Bible is the King of all books. Blessed is the man that realizes the emptiness of everything else but Christ Jesus.

There must be an utter end of you. Care nothing about glory and honor for yourself, care only for the honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Your sinfulness should humble you. Leave off being anything, bury self, reckon yourself to be less than nothing, and exalt Christ alone. If you try to be something, then Christ cannot be Everything. Leave off doing, simply let Jesus do. Brokenness, weakness, emptiness, and abject nothingness leads us to the Cross. Beg for more of Jesus' virtue and nature. Believing is not doing anything, believing is to leave off your doing, believing is simply trusting that Christ did it all. This is the only way of safety - Lie low at the feet of Jesus daily. Human pride shrivels into nothingness at the feet of Christ. Be jealous of your obedience to Christ; be circumspect in your walk with God; be careful in your thought life, abhor self-esteem; take heed to yourself; don't be judgmental of others; be cautious of a self-righteous spirit, there is nothing more deadly.
