THE *RECONCILER*

2 Corinthians 5:18–21 is one of the clearest declarations of the Gospel in all of the New Testament. It reveals God's direct message to sinners, the Person and Work of Christ, ever Christian's calling, and the urgent appeal for every Soul to be Reconciled to God through the Precious Blood of The Lamb of God, Christ Jesus the LORD.

Salvation always begins with God, not sinful man. "And all things are of God..." No sinner has ever initiated reconciliation with God. There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. Salvation is entirely God's gracious work from beginning to end.

God planned the Way of Salvation; God sent His Precious Son into the world to save sinners; God accomplished the Ransom and Redemption through Christ Jesus; and now God calls sinners just like you to Himself through the Holy Spirit and through His ambassadors who witness for Christ in this present evil world. John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5.

Your Sins have made you God's enemy; you are "at odds" with God Himself, and have walked contrary to Him your entire life up to this point. The need for Reconciliation reveals that sinners by nature are spiritually separated from God because of their sins. Every Lost Soul is separated from God, spiritually dead in trespasses and sins, under the wrath of God, and unable to reconcile themselves back to God. Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:10; Colossians 1:21.

Christ Jesus, God manifest in the flesh, is the only RECONCILER of sinners back to God. "...Who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ..." No religion, church, priest, good works, or personal effort can reconcile any sinner back to God. Christ Jesus alone bridges the infinite GAP as the DAYSMAN/MEDIATOR between the only True and Holy God and sinful man. John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Job 9:33.

JEHOVAH Himself in the person of Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners."God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself..." This verse declares Christ's deity; He was the GOD-MAN Who shed GOD'S PRECIOUS BLOOD to justify the ungodly. The Man who was nailed to THE CROSS was not merely a prophet or teacher, but God in human flesh. God Himself provided the one Sacrifice for Sins forever, so that His own Justice and Vengeance toward Sins could be eternally satisfied. The Precious Blood's value comes from the infinite worth of the Person Who offered up the Blood on THE CROSS. The Blood of JESUS itself was genuine blood, but it was the blood of the God-Man. That is why the Blood Sacrifice of JESUS Himself can fully satisfy God's divine justice for the sins of the whole world. John 1:1, 14; 1 Timothy 3:16; Colossians 2:9; 1 John 2:2; Colossians 1:14.

JESUS is fully God: Creator of all things; Conceived of the Holy Spirit; The Eternal Word; Worshiped by angels; Created the worlds and upholds the entire universe; One with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

JESUS is also fully man: Born of a virgin woman; Took Abraham's seed; Had flesh and blood; Hungered, thirsted, suffered, bled, died, and rose again.

JESUS did not cease to be God when He became a Jewish man, nor did He merely appear to be human. JESUS is one Wonderful divine Person possessing two complete natures—divine and human. His holy Incarnation made His holy ATONEMENT for sinners possible.

JEHOVAH Now offers You the complete forgiveness of sins. "...not imputing their trespasses unto them..." To "impute" means to charge something to someone's account. For the Soul who trusts Christ's Blood Atonement: their sins are no longer counted against them, their sin debt has been canceled, and condemnation is removed forever. You can have Peace with God now through the Blood of His Cross. Psalm 32:1–2; Romans 4:6–8; Romans 8:1; Colossians 1:20.

Every saved Soul is now entrusted with the Gospel and the Ministry of Reconciliation. Every Christian is called to witness and spread the Gospel, not just preachers. God uses redeemed Souls to tell other sinners how they can be reconciled to God through the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. This is the greatest mission on planet Earth. Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 13:26-39; Acts 16:31; Acts 17:22-33; Romans 10:14–15.

Christians are Christ's ambassadors here on Earth. "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ..." An ambassador represents the authority and message of another Kingdom. Christians represent the King of Heaven while living in this present evil world. We are not sent to proclaim a religion or denomination, but Christ's Gospel. Philippians 3:20; Matthew 5:14–16.

The GOSPEL is God's own Appeal to sinners. "...as though God did beseech you by us..." When the Gospel is communicated to a lost soul, God Himself is beseeching sinners through His servant. The Gospel is not merely religious information. It is God's personal invitation and urgent command to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in thine heart.

Reconciliation is an urgent call. "Be ye reconciled to God." This is both a gracious invitation and a divine command. You should not delay your response to the Gospel. Life is uncertain; Death is certain. Judgment is coming. Now is the day of Salvation. Isaiah 55:6–7; Hebrews 3:15; 2 Corinthians 6:2.

Jesus was perfectly sinless. "...Who knew no sin..." Christ never thought one sinful thought or imagination, never spoke one sinful word, one committed one sinful deed; for HE alone is the spotless Lamb of God. Only a sinless, perfect Savior could bear the sins of the whole world. Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5.

Christ Jesus became the Substitute for sinners on THE CROSS. ...He (GOD) hath made Him (JESUS) to be sin for us..." This is the very heart of the Gospel. Jesus did not become sinful. Rather, God laid our iniquities on JESUS, and treated Him as the Sin-bearer, laying upon Him the guilt and penalty of your sins. Your Sins' judgment and punishment fell upon the Innocent Lamb of God. Isaiah 53:5–6; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24; Romans 8:3

The Great Exchange must be made between you and Jesus Christ: "...that we (YOU) might be made the Righteousness of God in Him (JESUS)."

Here is the Great Exchange:
  • Your Side: sin, guilt, darkness, shame, condemnation, wrath, and eternal death
  • Christ's Side: Perfect Righteousness, Free Forgiveness, Eternal Life, Peace with God, Access to Grace
When you trust Christ to take away your Sins: Your Sins are credited to Christ, and His Righteousness is credited to your Soul. This is called Justification by Faith in His Precious Blood. Romans 3:21–26; Romans 5:1; Romans 5:8-9; Philippians 3:9.

God is Holy. Your Soul is dead in sins and separated from God. God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son into the world to save sinners from the wrath to come. Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh. Christ lived the sinless life, that you cannot live. Christ bore your sins as our Substitute. God punished His Son instead of you. Christ's righteousness is given to every Soul who trusts to *HIM*. Forgiveness of Sins is received by grace through faith, not earned by your works. God now calls you to be reconciled to Him through Christ alone.

No one can be naturally or religiously reconciled to God. Reconciliation to God is Mandatory, and every lost soul remains alienated from God until the Lost Soul comes to Christ and receives His RIGHTEOUSNESS as a Free Gift. "The wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:36)

Neglecting and Rejecting Christ leaves your sins charged against your Soul. Only those who are in Christ have their trespasses "not imputed." The Soul who rejects Him must bear his own guilt at the Judgment to come. "He that believeth not is condemned already." (John 3:18)

There is no other way of reconciliation to God. (John 14:6) God has provided only one Mediator and Ransom. (1 Timothy 2:5-6) Rejecting Christ means rejecting God's only Provision for Eternal Salvation. "Neither is there salvation in any other..." (Acts 4:12)

Refusing God's gracious appeal brings greater accountability upon you. God is not silent. Through the witness and preaching of the gospel, God mercifully calls sinners to Himself. To ignore or reject that appeal is to reject God Himself. Jesus said, "He that rejecteth ME, and receiveth not MY words, hath one that judgeth him..." (John 12:48)

Self-righteousness cannot save your guilty Soul. Verse 21 teaches that only those who are "in Him" receive God's righteousness. No amount of self-morality, religion, charity, or good behavior can produce the Righteousness which God requires. "Not having mine own righteousness...but that which is through the Faith of Christ." (Philippians 3:9)

The holy God whom you have offended with your sins did not leave you to perish. But in love, He sent His own sinless Son to bear the punishment you deserved. On the cross, Christ stood in the place of guilty sinners so if you repent and believes on Him, your sins can be freely and completely forgiven, your Soul declared righteous and made nigh to God, and your Soul is welcomed into the Kingdom of God to fellowship with God. Take part in "The Great Exchange" now: Your sins laid upon Christ, and His righteousness credited to your Soul through childlike Faith in His Precious Blood Atonement. God's merciful appeal goes out to you again today: "Be ye Reconciled to God." While you still have your mental faculties, Seek and Receive The RECONCILER today.
