The Resting Place

Life is very short, death is very near to you every day, Eternity is forever, your soul is immortal, you have sinned against God, God is just, He must punish all your sin. Who will answer to God for your sins? The Lord Jesus Christ or You?

Let your faith (trust) find a resting-place at the Cross of Christ. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. Don't EVER trust in yourself, your works, or your religion. By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Trust only the Bleeding Substitute; His bleeding wounds will take away your guilt freely. God became a man so He could suffer in your place. Jesus took all the blame for your sins – He bled and died for your sins, only God's blood can take away your death-fears and doubts. Christ died for the ungodly.

Jesus came to save lost and ungodly sinners, He shed His precious blood especially for you, for you His life He gave on Calvary's Cross. Only Christ’s Righteousness will deliver you from the eternal death you richly deserve. The Law of God demands righteousness from you, but you’re nothing but a sinner on your very best day, and you haven't a speck of righteousness to offer God, because you are a sinner indeed in thought, word, and deed. Your self-righteousness is damnable, and your self-indulgence is deadly and ruinous. Never trust yourself, only trust Christ Himself.

And they departed from the mount of the Lord three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them. Now therefore arise, O Lord God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction. Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place: For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace. But JESUS says, Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I AM meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

In Christ you will find forgiveness, reconciliation, salvation, and atonement. Come now, believe in Christ, exercise real reliance on His precious blood shed for ungodly sinners. Think of Him, desire after Him, seek Him, trust Him. Come as an empty sinner to a full, suitable, able, and willing Savior. Venture your soul upon Him alone, trust in Him for righteousness, life, and salvation. This is a kind invitation to lost sinners from the Savior who is willing to save, ready to to give relief from sin's burden and guilt, and give peace to distressed minds.

You are laboring in the service of sin and Satan. You are weary of sin's bondage, and laden with guilt and iniquity. You are so burdened with a heavy load of unforgiven sins. Don't die unsaved, unconverted, and unforgiven. Your conscience is under the iron yoke of the law, you're trudging along with a load of silly superstition and human tradition to the Lake of Fire. You will have never rest in your spirit until you find Jesus Christ.

Religion may leave you outwardly clean but still inwardly guilty. Come to Christ aright, come as an empty sinner to a full and able and willing Savior, trust in Him wholly for real righteousness, life, and salvation. Come to Christ at the Cross, lay down your deadly burden of sin at His crucified feet, look only to Him, lay hold of Him by faith in His person, blood, righteousness, and atoning sinless sacrifice. Peace of conscience, ease of mind, saving of the soul through Christ Jesus' pardoning grace, free justification by the righteousness of Christ, full atonement of ALL your sins by His bloody sacrifice, eternal life through His resurrection. Truly sensible sinners seek rest at the foot of the Cross.

Salvation's work is finished once and for all by Christ Jesus. That is why salvation is a free gift, because you can't ever earn it. Are you there yet? Have you come to the place where you see that you cannot make it with your religion and self-righteousness? Religion is man's way of trying to justify himself by his own works, and rejecting what Christ did for him. Salvation is trusting Christ what did for you, because you know you can't work your way to heaven. Religious people think they can help Christ out, or make it to heaven without Christ. But always remember - You are so rotten and sinful and no good that Someone (God in the flesh) had to bleed and die in your place so you could make it to heaven by simply trusting Him.

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - Christ died for the ungodly. There's not a just man upon the earth, which doeth good and sinneth not, every man in his best state is altogether vanity, all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior from sin, eternal death, wrath, and hell fire. Trust only what Christ has done for you, Confide in His sinless blood atonement to save your soul from the love of sin. You must trust Christ's righteousness and reject your own self-righteousness. Have you done that yet? Behold, now is the day of salvation. When are you going to trust Christ Himself with your soul?

Christ is risen from the dead, and He is living in Heaven now, come to Him for free righteousness that will satisfy the holiness of God. All you have to offer Christ are your sins, and all He wants to give you is His perfect righteousness. Come now to Christ as a sinful soul, He will never cast out. He will take away your guilt with His blood. Come directly to Jesus and exchange your sins for His righteousness. Lean with all your heart and soul on Christ, trust His promises to save you, plead His precious blood - and He will save you freely and instantly. Life eternal is found only in God's Son (I John 5:11).
