The love of sin is deadly and damning. You must be saved from the love of sin, rescued from habitual sinning, set free from the desire to sin, from your uncleanness, blasphemy, self-righteousness, and dishonesty. Sin is the atheist's element, just as water is the element of fish. Have done with the indulgence of your sins, and let Jesus cleanse your filthy spirit and soul. The mercy of God through the blood of Jesus Christ is your only hope. Your sins can never bring you happiness. The love of sin will never produce peace of mind. Your sins will always leave you dissatisfied and uneasy. At times the thoughts of death haunt you and make you wretched, the dread of hell comes over you, and you wish you had never been born. You know it is so. Your sin is so grievous to God your Maker. Sinning will never profit you. Give up your love of sin, let go of your vile and proud lusts, or they will drag your immortal soul down into the pit of hell. Christ rejecters try to do away with absolutes, ignore the guilt of their past sins, and while in a suicidal slumber, they willingly jump off the ledge of life and commit spiritual suicide. You are drunk with self-importance, you are too proud to admit that you have sinned, too proud to pray to the God that made you. Be wise - Commit your soul to Jesus Christ, and He will save it instantly and forever.
Unregenerate atheists cannot and will not believe in God because they love their sins. Atheists are restless and peaceless. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. There can be no peace where there is unpardoned sin. Until the atheist humbles himself before His Maker, and seeks and finds mercy, God is at war with him, and he is at war with God. There can be no peace of mind where there is no purity. You must be made pure, your nature must be changed, and the love of sin must be taken from you. The atheist does not wish to give up his favorite sins, so he pretends the Gospel is too difficult to understand, or impossible to accept, and so he excuses himself for going on in his iniquity. What God hates, atheists enjoy. The rejection of the Gospel is the Sin of sins - the willful rejection of Christ is the most damning sin of all. Every atheist who rejects Christ the true light, always go on to reject other forms of light such as God's word, God's Spirit, and his conscience. An atheist always put his dying body before his immortal soul; they are deeply concerned with matters of time but care not for their eternal interests. Atheists are not in their right mind.
Only the love of Christ will kill the power of sin, the practice of sin, the pursuit of sin, the life of sin, and the old love of sin. For sin shall not have dominion over you. Atheists dislike Christ because they love darkness. All men have evil hearts, but not all are equally inclined to the grosser vices in which some indulge, but in every sinner there is the alienation from God, the forgetfulness of God, the love of sin, and a dislike to God when He is actually understood. No man make his sinful heart clean. Atheists reject Christ, because they love their sin, this world's pleasures and gains, and their own righteousness. One true sight of Christ's bloody death for your sins will be the death of your love of sin. You must be saved from the eternal punishment of sin and your current love of sin. You cannot come to Christ, and bring your love of sin with you. All a poor atheist has to believe in is his own wretched self. Your sin cost Jesus Christ His life.
No man by nature thinks he needs Christ. No man knows his real need until the Holy Ghost shows him - the necessity of pardon. All men in their natural condition are dead in sin and will never come to Christ; they try to build a shelter of falsehood to hide themselves behind. They are desperately trying to hide from God, death, and the wrath to come on sin. Atheists build the walls of theories, carelessness, human goodness, carnal reasoning, human intellect, alibis, self-righteousness, and self-sufficiency to hide behind. But their house of cards will quickly crumble and fall down at death and leave them defenseless. You must depend wholly on the love of the Father, the Redeeming Blood of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit to save your guilty soul. Eternal life is freely given to all sinners who come to Christ Jesus for it. By nature all atheists are inclined to follow the road that leads downward to hell. They are willing to walk the road that leads to hell, they do not seek hell, but the road that leads to it.
You can never master your evil passions in your own strength. The sufferings of Christ, the power of the Holy Ghost, the work of the Cross, the Lamb of God's agonies and blood is your only escape from your filthy ways. Jesus went to Calvary for sinners. Open your windows toward Calvary and always pray, look upon the Precious Blood. Only at Calvary is the medicine found for a sin-sick soul. Thirsty, sin-sick soul draw near. Despairing sinner come to the Cross and hear, the blood of Christ can quench your thirst and wash your soul clean. Only God's blood can wash your sin's guilt and filth away. Jesus the Incarnate God of Calvary is the guilty sinner's Best Friend. Behold the condescending Creator, for awhile He left His heavenly home, He descended into this mean world, to live and suffer and bleed, and die for hopeless wretches. And then when the appointed hour had come, Jesus tore the bars of death away, and burst the barriers of the tomb. Then He ascended to the skies to sit upon God's throne and will soon come again in Glory.
You will either hug your sin, or embrace the Savior. By nature, you may be afraid of damnation and hell, but you are not afraid of sinning and self. Be wise - Fear yourself and fear sinning against God. Happy is the man that feareth alway. The love of sin separates your soul from God. The only thing that really belongs to you in this world is your Sin. You are unsatisfied because you have unforgiven sin on your soul. You can only be happy if you are kept from sinning against God - only the Holy Ghost can help you there. The wounds of Christ heal the human heart of its love of sin. Only Christ's finished work can free you from the damning power and guilt of your sin. Every atheist is a poor slave and lover of sin. Have done with the love of your righteousness and trust Jesus with your soul. Till your sin is hated, there can be no Heaven for you. Many men possess just enough religion to make them miserable, and enough sin to prevent their salvation. At the Cross true knowledge takes the place of ignorance, and a desire for purity overcomes the love of sin. Jesus gives immediate and complete salvation from the love of sin, conscious salvation from the power of sin, growing salvation from the propensity to sin, and a salvation from the tendency to sin.
The rags of self-righteousness must come off before the robe of Christ's Righteousness is put on your soul. The love of sin must be taken away, there must be a forsaking of the practices and habits of sin. Christ's finished work on the Cross delivers from the love of sin. We may fall into sin after being saved, but we mourn over it, and hate the sin, and hate ourselves for committing it against such a merciful Savior. Every sin grieves the Savior so, we cannot find pleasure in as once we did, we may sin, but it vexes us so, creates misery in our heart, breeds sorrow in our mind. If you love sin, the love of the Father is not in you. Atheists enjoy sinning, and they loathe the Savior. The blinded atheist wants God to leave him alone in his sin. Atheists are steeped in sin and care nothing about sinning against God, they openly defy their Maker, and sin for the mere sake of sinning. Sin is a deliberate attack upon God, sin is an offense against God's very nature, and it becomes a heavy burden on your soul. Every atheist is as black as night within, because he rejects the light of the Gospel. You must seek for salvation from the power and love of sin, not just from the punishment of sin. If you are a lost soul, the wrath of God abides on you; right now, resolved to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior.
True repentance is the broom which sweeps the house from attic to cellar. No man is free from the commission of sin, but every converted soul is free from the love of sin. Every regenerated heart desires to free from sin. When sin's power or temptation is felt within, we do not welcome it, we cry out against it, "O wretched man that I am!" We cannot bear sin, we groan to be free completely from the hateful thing called sin. Sin is the cataract that dims and darkens the spiritual eye.
Turn from the love of sin to the love of God. The atheist that looks sin-ward has his back to God, but he who looks God-ward has his back to sin. Atheists cannot see truth, because they love error and falsehood. The Gospel cannot be seen by a God-hating atheist, because he has a loose life, foul speech, and lewd thoughts. The atheist loves carnal pleasure so he cannot stand the purity of the Gospel. The pride of self-righteousness damns many an atheist. Conversion is when a man turns from from the folly of sin to the glory of God. Forsake your wrongdoing, renounce your evil lusting and habitual lying, and desire pardon from Christ's hand. Christ's bleeding love will take away your love of Sin.
The Cross will make you hate the sin that crucified the Savior. Christ's shed blood will make sin nauseating to you, you will become weary of sin, and will have no more of it. The guilt of sin remains on the man who still loves his sin. Only Christ can save you from your evil habits of wrongdoing, the power of evil, the love of sin, and finding pleasure in sin. The main cause of your rejection of Christ is the love of sin. Every atheist loves death, when he rejects Christ. For every atheist that doeth evil hateth the light (Jesus Christ), neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. Self-trust and the love of sin must go, Christ and His purity must be received. Turn to God, trust in Jesus. Every thief is sorry in jail, every murderer is sorry in the death-cell, and every atheist will be sorry in hell.
You can sum up all that a sinner needs, and you will find Christ Jesus is able to supply you with all you need. You want pardon; Christ can deliver it to you freely. You want a change of heart; it can be granted unto by the living Savior. You want a real righteousness in which you may be accepted by a holy God; Christ has it. If you want to be purged from the *love of sin*, only Christ can do it. You want wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, and they are all found in one Person - Jesus Christ. You think you will never be perfect; but perfection is found in Christ, you can only be complete in Him. “It pleased the Father that in Christ should all fullness dwell.” Jesus is “full of grace and truth.”
You must seek the pardon of sin, the forgiveness of sin, and the remission of sin at the foot of the Cross. Trust only in the Crucified Lamb of God, and the Risen Redeemer. Lay your sin burden at the feet of Jesus. This is the Good News -- The Incarnate God bleeding to death for sinners upon the Cross; a Sinless Substitute atoning for mortal guilt; a holy Sacrifice satisfying the vengeance of God; the spotless Lamb of God suffering the wrath of God, dying in your place, making a perfect payment for your human sin, and then rising from the dead and then to the throne of God. Jesus did all this to deliver the rebellious, ungodly sinner. Flee to the Blood of Christ for help, and your love of sin will be gone. Fix your trust only on Christ's sin-atoning blood. Have done with trying and doing your best, rely on Christ's finished Cross-work alone. Trust Jesus, take Him to be your complete salvation now. Christ bled on Calvary for your sin, cast yourself at His feet, and beg His free forgiveness.
