Money breeds anxiety, because you are haunted with fear because it could be lost. Greed leads you into temptation. Human greed yearns for honor, popularity, inordinate leisure, and power. Gambling is greed in action. The love of money will leave you disillusioned and discontented - it will control where you go, cause you to form alliances with the wrong people, and walk in the counsel of the ungodly. The love of money will tempt you and trap you. The worlding pants after the dust of this earth. You are prone to moral foolishness and harmful spiritual desires. The love of money, covetousness, and greed will wreck your marriage.
The barbarian longs for gold, not God. The devil offered Eve life, but she ended up eating death. Your moral and spiritual condition is terminal. Everlasting destruction for a few bucks; selling your immortal soul for a promotion and then go to Hell forever. Money-grabbing takes hold of every worldling's soul. Thoughts of money consume their day (stocks, portfolio, 401K, bank account). The financial success of others make you jealous. Your health and family are neglected because of your eagerness for money. You close your eyes to the genuine needs of others -you just want to keep it all for yourself. You live in constant fear of losing your money. Things and stuff consume your life. God is forgotten and despised, and your belly becomes your god. Money replaces your MAKER in your affections.
Remember God's awesome holiness and that He is distinctly unlike men in that we are completely sinful, and He is absolutely without sin. Consider your need of the Savior and for the cleansing and full and free forgiveness of your sins through the Blood of God's dear Son. Look now only to the heavenly provision of the Atonement for human sin through the infinite Sinless Blood Sacrifice of the Lamb of God on Calvary's Cross.
