If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Christ died for the ungodly. The ungodly live their lives independently and disconnected from the Lord Jesus Christ walking according to the course of this world. The ungodly do not care how their thoughts, speech and actions may offend the Creator. The ungodly man is not disturbed one bit when he grieves the Holy Spirit with his thought life, decisions or conduct.
When we desire to walk in the Spirit, we become more concerned about offending the LORD in any way, just like we would fear to offend our spouse, parent or best friend. We should ask the LORD to make us more and more sensitive to the Holy Spirit; so we can detect His still, small voice and to be able to recognize the Spirit's faintest promptings, summons and warnings. We should remain conscious and maintain a keen resolve to walk in the Spirit and be obedient to His guidance.
The Holy Spirit's work will make us peculiarly and delicately sensitive to any contact with sin. Sin always begins in the thought life and is the source of wretchedness and misery. Sin should pain our heart and conscience. As we grow in grace we develop a painful sensitiveness to the evil of sin, and also a gracious tenderness toward the sorrow of those around us. Regenerated souls have sensitive minds when it comes to evil thoughts, unclean desires, words wrongly spoken, and inappropriate behaviour.
Walk in fellowship with the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. The saved soul which is influenced by the Spirit has a growing sensitivity to divine love, to gratitude, to Eternity, to Repentance, to abhorring sin, to knowing the value of men's souls, to grieving the Holy Spirit, and to showing pity toward others. The quickened conscience is sensitive concerning the things of God, to the summons and warnings of the Holy Spirit, to the words and will of God. We must be continually seeking the words of God and the vital, inward working of the Holy Ghost. The Spirit-led soul has a teachable heart which is willing to be guided, molded and changed by the divine will of God. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
