The Glorious Gospel 3

Guilty, worthless, Hell-deserving sinners are all welcome at the Cross, all those who have nothing to recommend them, no good works, or good feelings, or good intentions. Simply trust the merits and blood of Jesus Christ, and rest wholly in His Blood Atonement to pay for your sins made by His death, and you are saved, all your sins are forgiven at once, your evil nature will be changed by the new birth, and you shall become a new creature in Christ Jesus. Jesus is ready to save you today if you will simply trust Him. The gift of the eternal Savior is eternal life.

The gist of the inward work of the Holy Spirit is to lead a sinner to forsake his own righteousness and to accept the free gift of God. Acknowledge and confess that you are a bona fide sinner, because all have sinned. Confess that you can't do one thing about it, you're helplessly doomed and condemned and in need of Jesus' rescue and ransom. Nobody on earth can save a sinner, but there is Someone on the throne in Heaven that can save your soul. Admit and believe that Christ died, was buried, and rose again the third day especially for you. He paid for your sins with His own blood. He bore your sins in His own body on the tree. Receive Jesus personally into your soul now. Jesus offered up Himself as a sinless blood Sacrifice and Substitute to pay the eternal penalty and consequences due to your sins.

You cannot be saved by your own works. Nothing you can do can ever deserve divine mercy. Salvation must be the free gift of God. Put your faith completely in Jesus Christ, believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God manifest in the flesh. Believe that He died for you and rose from the dead. Trust yourself wholly, simply, heartily, once for all with Him. Whosoever believeth in Jesus Christ that EVERlasting life. Unfeignedly repent of your sins. Ask God to give you true repentance - a mind totally changed about sin. What you once loved, you now hate; and what you once hated, you now love. This is a hearty loathing and giving up and forsaking of sin. You must be saved from your sins. You and your sins must part. Labor to give up every known sin, turn from every false way, or else your faith is a dead faith.

Restitution should also be made. The Gospel is tender to the repenting and trusting sinner, but the Gospel is all terror to the obstinate Christ-rejecting sinner. The Gospel offers free pardon to every sinner, and mercy for the ungodly. There is grace for the man who quits his love of sin, but there is wrath and justice upon every man that loves and does evil. How can God be just, and yet save the sinful? In a word, Calvary. Whosoever believeth in Jesus Christ is justified from all his sins freely and immediately. Whosoever believeth in Jesus Christ, God's appointed Sacrifice and Substitute for human sin, is set free from His sins' penalty.

The Precious Blood gives the sinner perfect peace with God. The application by the Precious Blood by the Holy Spirit purges the soul from dead works. *Hebrews 9:14* The Precious Blood of Christ has power to put away human sin, because it is God's Blood. *Acts 20:28* Free Salvation by Grace, Eternal Redemption by Precious Blood. Tell out the saving power of the Savior's Precious Blood. Humbly and heartily plead the Precious Blood. Put your soul's trust in the merits of Jesus' Precious Blood - this is the genuine work of grace in the sinner's heart. Your sin must confessed, forsaken and hated. By faith in Precious Blood your sins shall be washed out of your innermost being. Stop indulging in iniquity.

The Precious Blood purifies us to the center, it purges the core of the heart, it cleanses us in spirit, mind, memory, thoughts, intellect, affections, and we are clean. Sin is a foul and debasing thing, it is offensive and abominable in the sight of a holy God. Sin is the greatest conceivable danger to your soul. You cannot sin with impunity. The atheist has a depraved heart, a rebellious will, and a darkened understanding that leads him to hate God and reject Christ. The Holy Scriptures will never flatter human nature. No one earth can help save you at all, you must be born again from above. You must go directly to the Merciful Mediator for mercy. *I Timothy 2:5-6* Personally call upon Him for His free forgiveness of sins. Personally and directly deal with the Mediator. Do all for Jesus only, for Jesus wholly. Sin is slain, pride is buried, and risen to walk in newness of life. The key note of the Gospel came from the lips of Jesus - Come unto Me, and I will give you rest. *Matthew 11:28*

The Glorious Gospel 2

Come to Christ Jesus with nothing in yourself, and take Him to be your All in All. Place no confidence or reliance on your feelings or works. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and whosoever believeth in Him hath everlasting life. Keep to your first faith in His Blood and Righteousness. Stand fast in your undivided faith in Christ Jesus. I am a sinner, Christ came here and died for sinners, I trust Him, so therefore I am saved freely and forever. You cannot be saved unless you personally turn from sin; it is the work of God's Holy Spirit to bring you to do so, but you must repent with your own heart and mind.

You have sinned, and you must repent of it, and turn from it. You must undergo a change in your mind about everything - this is called the new birth, being born again of the Spirit of God. You think little of sin and very little of Christ, so your mind must be totally changed about these facts. You must loathe your sins and grieve over them. Divine pardon bought with Jesus' blood, free forgiveness according to the riches of God's divine grace, making sinners new creatures in Christ. Salvation by grace, Redemption by by His precious blood, Justification by faith alone. The natural man hugs his self-righteousness, as he hugs his life. Redemption which frees, pardon that blots out sin, renewal which actually regenerates, salvation which completely saves. You are bound with the cords of sin, and only Jesus can release you.

The band of soldiers came to Gethsemane where Jesus was praying and bound His hands, and then they led Him off to Pilate and Herod. They brought the Son of God before the Roman governor - Pontius Pilate. They scourged Jesus with a cat-of nine tails. He bore the cross through the streets of Jerusalem. His hands and feet were fastened to the cross by the iron nails. He hung there in mid-air fastened to the cruel tree, for sinners just like you. He endured the wrath of God and paid the penalty of death for human sin, that He might set you free. His Substitution was for your deliverance from sin. Come bound with your sins and loaded with guilt. Look to His dear Cross, and trust yourself with Him, and you shall be set free by Christ Himself. Trust Jesus heartily and obey Him gladly. Do all things at His word, claim no merit of your own, claim only His gracious promise and precious blood.

Consider Jesus and you will enjoy living, and be ready for dying. You must be humiliated before you get saved. You must realize you are absolutely bankrupt, sunk, you're through. Nobody ever gets saved while they are proud. Every sinner has to come down to Jesus' feet. Needy sinners must simply trust Jesus. Trust your Best Friend with your soul. Atheists hate their very best Friend - Jesus Christ. You must be born again. You have to declare bankruptcy on your soul. You're bad enough to go to Hell, and you're not good enough to go to Heaven. You have to be a convict before you become a convert. You must plead guilty. Sin has brought condemnation to your soul. Condemnation first, then you're ready for some Consideration. Where can I go for help? Go straight to the holy and lowly Jesus. Confess all your secrets and sins to your Friend. Reconciliation, Redemption, Regeneration.

Be ye transformed - born again. The Gospel must first clean you out and then clean you up. Justification - completely pardoned in the sight of God forever - declared just and innocent in the sight of God, for Jesus' sake. A man is only fit to go to Heaven in Christ. Accept Christ's invitation - *Matthew 11:28* The word of God is my tranquilizer when I go to bed. There's no rest in religion. Sanctification - John 17:17 - inward purity only through the words of God. No man buys his wife groceries to become her husband. He does it because he is her husband. Live for Jesus by the grace of God. Eternal life is the gift of God in Jesus Christ. By faith consciously come and receive Christ HImself. Rest upon Jesus, become one with Him. Whosoever believeth in Him hath everlasting life.

The best you can do, just won't do. Salvation is not DO, Salvation is DONE. Salvation is what Christ has done for you, not what you can do for Christ. Self-righteous religion depends on what you can do, but Salvation depends upon what Christ has done. Come and trust what Christ has done on the Cross for your guilty soul. You're too late to do anything to save yourself. It has all been done for you in advance. Commit your helpless soul to Jesus. Trust Jesus better, love Him better, admire Him more. The essence of the Gospel is Christ Himself. Simply trust Him, and enjoy eternal life.

The Glorious Gospel 1

I am not condemned, because Jesus was condemned for me. All my spirit's trust is fixed on Jesus' Blood and Righteousness. He paid my sin debts, and discharged my liability to divine justice, and therefore my soul is clear forever. Whosoever believeth in Jesus Christ is not condemned. The Blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanseth us from all sin. *John 3:36* *John 3:18* *Romans 5:8-9* Believe only, Jesus only. Trust your soul with Jesus Christ, rely only on the Crucified Creator. I am one of the "whosoevers," for I believe in Jesus with my whole heart. I have no hope but in Jesus, and I have remission of sins, not because of merits or doings of mine. Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Whosoever believeth in Jesus shall receive the remission of sins freely without works. Look to the divine Spirit of God to purge and cleanse you. Simply trust Jesus now; give up yourself to His service. Trust Jesus, and you shall be saved from sinning, your sins shall be forgiven, your inward nature shall be changed, and you shall be made pure and holy within by the power of the Holy Spirit. He that believeth on the Lord Jesus Christ is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already. Commit yourself to the Merciful Maker, rest all your hope on the Gracious Gospel, trust your soul on the crucified and living Savior.

Let Jesus wash away your sins in His atoning blood, receive His perfect righteousness. "Trust" is the life-blood of Faith. Simple reliance upon the finished work of Jesus Christ. Come away from yourself, your sins, your own self-righteousness, come to the Cross. Come to Jesus, that is, come to His blood now. Really and practically trust Jesus. Give yourself up to Jesus, renounce your old sins, forsake your old dirty habits, live as Christ enables you to live. You have nobody else to trust to. Trust the Savior, the Incarnate God, trust Him now and at once. Jesus Christ is able to save your sinful soul, rest your whole weight on Him. Trust Jesus Christ to set you free from your old sins. Trust Jesus, love Him, serve Him. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life. Fall down at Jesus' pierced feet, cry out for mercy through His Precious Blood. Christ is All - that's all there is to it.

God delights in mercy and passes by our sins, because of the precious blood of Jesus. God has mercy on me a sinner for Jesus' sake, that is, because of what Jesus suffered for my sins. There is infinite merit in Christ's atoning blood. Look to the Crucified One, view His wounds. You have no good works, no merits, no good feelings, nothing to recommend you to God. Cast your soul on the Atonement of Christ. Free salvation for sinners, salvation for the guilty enemies of God. Salvation for all men that are weighed in the balances and found wanting. Free pardon, full remission, gracious acceptance. Foul, lost, undone, empty wretches go free for Jesus' sake. Rest wholly upon what Christ is, and what He has done, and you are saved. To come to Christ is to trust Him alone, you are really guilty, trust Christ's blood to save you. Trust Jesus with your real sins, guilt, and unworthiness.

Be nothing, be nobody, simply trust Christ Himself. Leave your own righteousness and religiousness, and go to Jesus for everything. Never believe in yourself, but only believe in Jesus. Flee to the Cross, trust in full Atonement for human sin. Christ died for the ungodly, I am ungodly, so that means He died for me. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, I'm a sinner, I trust Him to save me. A true trust is obedience to the Lord's commands, and they forbid and avoid sinning. If you trust Jesus, you will leave your sins, and take up your cross and follow Him. Wait upon God for everything. The whole of your salvation lies in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus' blood has made my peace with God.

Your soul can only be saved by the free forgiveness of God through the Precious Blood. Whatever your guilt may be, my gracious God and Savior is ready to forgive you for Jesus' sake, because He delighteth in mercy. Rely wholly upon the faithful promise of God, and the precious blood of Christ. Christ is precious when sin is bitter. There is nothing for you to pay. The full pardon of sin, blotted out once for all, final and irreversible remission of sins. The pardon of God once given to a sinner stands forever and ever. Real sinners rejoice in a real Atonement.

Independence Day Facts

The American colonies' Continental Army led by General George Washington started fighting the British in April 1775 because of British taxation and limitation on the American Thirteen Colonies. In June of 1776, the Continental Congress appointed a "Committee of Five" to write the Declaration of Independence: John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. Thomas Jefferson was 33 years old at the time and the best writer of the five, so John Adams gave him the task of writing the initial draft of the declaration. Jefferson's draft was brought before the committee, debated, and revised. The final version of the declaration contains 1,328 words.

On July 2, 1776 the Second Continental Congress unanimously voted to approve a resolution for independence that was proposed by Richard Lee of Virginia in June. On the night of July 2nd, the Congress started printing copies of the declaration, and its distribution started across the colonies on July 4th. The first 4th of July celebration actually occurred on July 8th, 1776. The Liberty Bell was rang on that day in Philadelphia to honor the first public reading of the declaration. The people that heard the declaration reacted with gunfire, bonfires, and fireworks. This custom was borrowed from England where the subjects celebrated the king's birthday with fireworks.

In the American colonies, they were actually celebrating the King George's funeral.  King's George statue in New York City was pulled down, cut up, and the lead was smelted into musket balls that were used to fight the Revolutionary War. A parchment copy of the Declaration of Independence was signed on August 2, 1776 by 56 people. John Hancock, the President of Congress, was the first to put his signature on the document. The signers of the declaration were considered traitors and were persecuted.  Paul Revere did not ride alone to warn fellow patriots that British troops were approaching Lexington on the night of April 18, 1775.  William Dawes and Samuel Prescott rode along beside him and then 40 other riders joined the three patriots on their historic mission.  Thousands of women fought for the Revolutionary cause and traveled with the Continental Army working as laundresses, cooks, nurses, and even spies or couriers.  5,000 African Americans fought on the Patriots' side. Many of the Native Americans and Iroquois peoples fought alongside the colonists.

The Continental Congress voted for independence on July 2, 1776, but didn't approve the declaration until July 4, 1776.  There were 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence; the oldest signer was Benjamin Franklin, 70; and the youngest was South Carolina's Edward Rutledge, 26.  13 of the signers were 35 or younger, and seven were 60 or older.  1 signer later recanted while being held prisoner by the British, Richard Stockton of New Jersey.  8 of the signers were born in Britain or Ireland. The Declaration of Independence was signed more than two and a half years after the Boston Tea Party.

By coincidence, on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1826, two of the document's authors, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, died.  President James Monroe also died on July 4th in 1831.  In 1781, Massachusetts became the first state to make July 4th a state holiday.  Bristol, Rhode Island is home to the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration dating back to 1785.  Independence Day festivities became more widespread in the US after the War of 1812.  In 1870, Independence Day became a recognized holiday. But in 1941, Congress voted to make Independence Day a paid Federal legal holiday.

Behold the Lamb of God!

The whole world is lost through sin, and all of mankind has become guilty before God. There is none righteous, no, not one. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, including you. All that I could say would fall far short about your sinful condition in the sight of God. No matter where you stand in the ranks and eyes of moral men, you are still a lost, condemned soul as long as you are without real, living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Religious professions and outward forms of godliness will not help save you.

You must have a better righteousness than your own, for you are a lost sinner. God is just, and it is inevitable that your sins must be punished. You have sinned all throughout your life, and therefore you are under God's condemnation, unless you are trusting in Christ Jesus. Many strive hard to make their old sinful nature better, but it is all in vain. Ye must be born again, you must be regenerated within by the Holy Ghost, only the Spirit of God can do this work, religion and your best efforts are useless. You must be born from above. You must have internal life from the eternal God. You must first see yourself as a lost, ruined sinner, and then you must put your heart's trust in Jesus Christ, He is the sinner's Sin-Bearer and Savior.

Your death is certain; it is inevitable that you must face your Maker. Time is eating away at your life and it is hurrying you to your grave. Time like a sheriff is escorting you to the bar of divine justice where you will give account of yourself to God. The sun will not stand still for you; day after day, time is carrying you to the cemetery and out into Eternity. Every tick of the clock is the sound of the footsteps of Death approaching you. The rider upon the pale horse is pursuing you, and his stallion is gaining speed. It is a scriptural fact that Christ died for your sins personally. The Bible says, "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,” and you're a sinner; you sense and understand that you are a sinner; you know that you're guilty. Christ died to save sinners; and it is true that you are a sinner.

You may practice morality, and that's fine; you may attend religious ceremonies and you have a right to do so; you may endeavor to do better, but since you are a sinner condemned in the sight of God, you can never be pardoned apart from the blood of Christ; and you can never be purified apart from the purifying operations of the Holy Ghost. A room in your house may seem clean, but when you throw back the curtains on the windows, and the sunlight shines in, it reveals dust floating in the air, and all the filth in so many places. The Holy Ghost must first come and throw open the curtains of your heart, and when His Light (the word of God) shines into your sin-defiled heart *Psalm 119:130*, and you will begin to sense your danger, dirty thoughts and sinful ways.

Here is the Gospel in a few short syllables: Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. The Lamb speaks of a sacrifice. Jesus Christ, God in human flesh, the divinely-appointed sacrifice for human guilt, came to earth and stood in the place and stead of all sinners. God the Father sent Him and accepted Him as the substitutionary sacrifice for all human sin. Jesus was put to death so that you may not be put to death. Christ Jesus was put into your place, your sins were laid upon Him; and sin, like anything else, cannot be in two places at one time. If you trust in Christ, all your sin will be laid upon Christ, you will have no sins left upon you. Your sins will become Christ's burden, He will take it away from you forever.

On the Cross, Jesus endured all the punishment that was due to your sinful soul. If you trust to His precious blood alone, your sins will be put away, they will cease to be, and not exist any longer. God will forget your sins forever. Christ takes your sins absolutely out of existence. As far as the east is from the west, God removes your transgressions from you; your sins are gone, past all recall. God will cast them into the depths of the deepest sea, your sin debts are all gone forever, your iniquities will be eternally expunged and erased from God's record books. ALL your indebtedness to God will be transferred to Christ, and all of Christ's merits, riches and grace will be transferred to your soul. This is what Christ will do for any sinner who will truly trust in Him. Christ died for sinners, and Christ will save all sinners who will trust Him alone.

A small group of children in Sunday School were shown the map of Jerusalem. And as the teacher was talking, one of the little girls spoke up and said, "Where is Calvary?" Ah! That is the question you need to ask, "Where is Calvary?" This is where you must turn you eye, there, between two thieves, the Savior died. If you will really look to HIM alone, you are saved, then whatever else you do not know, you know enough to save your soul, you have life eternal.

Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, suffered the anguish of physical death by crucifixion and the agony of the wrath of God in spiritual death that you might not suffer the pangs of Hell and wrath eternal which is due to your sins. There is no other way of salvation under heaven but this. God's justice must be executed, He will by no means clear the guilty, but God laid upon Christ the full punishment that was due to your sins and mine, and smote Him as though He had been the actual transgressor, and now, turning around to you, God tells you that, if you will simply trust in Jesus alone, the merits and riches of His great atoning sacrifice shall be imputed to you freely, and you shall live eternally in glory because Jesus died upon Calvary and rose from the dead for you.

So, if you would have your sins forgiven and blotted out forever, you must look by faith to that sinless blood sacrifice which was offered for your soul on Calvary's Cross. The Lamb of God is the one and only sacrifice that God has appointed and ordained for human sin. God appointed the Lord Jesus Christ to die as the Substitute for sinners. The Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all, it pleased the Lord to bruise Him, God put Him to grief. God cannot reject the sinner that trusts in Christ's atoning sacrifice. Christ's Atonement is sufficient to save you. God is well-pleased only with the atoning sacrifice of His Son, and surely your most troubled conscience will be equally satisfied with it. God is content with what Christ has done on your behalf and is willing to freely pardon you, if you will only stop trusting your own righteousness, and simply submit to and receive Christ's Righteousness as your protection and satisfaction before God at the Judgment to come. The gate of God's grace is set very wide open for you. Simply trust in Christ, whom God has set forth to be the Substitute and Propitiation for human sin, and you shall be eternally saved, immediately saved.

This is God’s plan of Reconciliation: — all men everywhere by nature are lost and condemned, for there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile, they are all under condemnation, because they have violated God’s divine Law (James 2:10). Jesus came into the world to seek and to save that which was lost. The eternal God took upon Himself human flesh. Here on earth JESUS lived for thirty-three years in poverty, obscurity, sorrow and persecution, until at last He was betrayed, condemned as a criminal and crucified. Jesus laid down His life for His enemies. In His death, He bore the whole burden of human sin; God laid upon JESUS the iniquity of all, and on the Cross, Jesus suffered what sinners ought to have suffered. What God’s justice should have inflicted upon us for our sins, God inflicted upon Christ; God laid our sins and the whole weight of divine wrath due to our sins upon Jesus; and now whosoever will come to God by the way of the Cross may come; whosoever will hide himself in the wounds of Jesus shall be free from the arrows of God's vengeance.

A man once put out some crumbs on a window ledge for birds - one robin came, the crumbs were there, he wanted them, he picked up the crumbs, he ate them, and the crumbs were his. If you want the Bread of Life and God's mercy, there is mercy available now within your reach, come and take it from the hand of Jesus. The next day, the same robin brought one of his friends with him to the window ledge, so his friend could enjoy the crumbs with him. If you partake of Christ (The Bread of Life), you will soon invite others to come to Jesus. The old proverb goes like this, “He that would go to heaven alone, shall never go there at all.”

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: He that believeth in Christ is not condemned. Look unto Me and be ye saved, all ye ends of the earth - these are the cries from the Cross of Calvary, and a true voice it is, and whosoever heedeth it shall find eternal life. Full Reconciliation by the sinless, Precious Blood of God, by the substitutionary sacrifice of the infinite Son of God. O sinner friend, full and free forgiveness of your sins is only obtainable through Faith in the atoning blood of Jesus! There is mercy, grace, pardon, and Heaven, for as many as believe in Jesus, the great Substitute for sinners; there is no other mode of salvation under heaven.

Behold! This means to look with all your heart, to believe and trust on the Lord Jesus Christ, trust to Him alone as your Savior and nothing else at all, accept God's word concerning Him, and rely upon Him to save you. This is God's way of salvation. Stop looking at yourself. If you are cold, you don't go out and look at the snow for warmth. If you are very poor, you don't fix your eye on your empty pocket. If your leg is broken, you don't stare at it and wish for it to be healed. You must seek warmth, riches, and healing outside of yourself. Give up looking at yourself and Behold the Lamb of God. Come to Christ for a new heart, and He will make you all over again.

Look by childlike Faith to the bloody sacrifice that Christ made for sinners on Calvary's cross. If you look anywhere else for salvation, you will never find Him. O dear sinner, look away from everything else to Christ alone. None but Jesus, none but Jesus, can do helpless sinners good. All trust that is put in religion - such as christening, baptism, confirmations, sacraments, ceremonies, priests, popes, relics - these are altogether a lie. Look to the living God, Christ Jesus, alone and you shall be eternally saved.

You don't have to understand all about the Bible and its many doctrines to be saved. A lifeboat came to a sinking ship. The man on the sinking ship began to ask, "How many planks are in this lifeboat, what kind of oars does it have, what is your name and qualifications, where was this boat built, how many nuts and bolts are holding it together, what guarantees do I have that this boat can save me?" The driver of the lifeboat said, "You fool, you are in danger of drowning, get into the lifeboat at once, or we must leave you here to perish!"

A really hungry man will not question where the bread that is set before him was grown, ground, or baked. He has an appetite, so he just eats the bread, and his hunger is satisfied. You must do the same thing with the Gospel, feed upon it, receive and believe Jesus died and rose again from the dead for lost sinners, simply put your trust in Jesus Christ now. By Faith swallow Him down into your hungry soul. Drink the sweet wine of the Divine Substitute into your inward parts. Let Him nourish, satisfy, and delight your needy soul.

You feel that you are a sinner. You are conscious that you have rebelled against God. You need the Saviour’s blood to be applied to your conscience. If you feel your lost estate, come to Christ, come and welcome, for He will never cast you away. Poor sinner, believe on Christ now! Look to Christ alone, and find free mercy. Christ is a greater Savior, than you are a sinner. Fix your heart's eye on the Bleeding Lamb of God right now and on nothing else - trust only His precious blood. Embrace Him! Cleave to Him! Oh! Trust Him now, before death and destruction overtake you; and remember, once you are in Christ, you are safe forever and ever - and remember everlasting life lasts forever.

The Gospel says simply, “Believe!” But men will not understand. They think there is to be something so mysterious about believing. They can’t make out what it is; but they choose to wait for a feeling, and then believe. Well, you will wait till doomsday; for if you do not believe the simple gospel, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,” God will not work signs and wonders to please your foolish desires. Your position is simply this — you're a sinner, lost, ruined; you cannot help yourself. The Scripture says, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” Your immediate business, your urgent duty is to cast yourself on that simple promise, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, believe that He came into the world to save sinners just like you.

Mercy for the Guilty

I am forgiven by the free mercy of God, I am only a sinner saved by atoning blood. My acceptance in the Beloved doesn't wax and wane like the moon. Through Christ there comes to me the pardon of my sins, acceptance in the Beloved, and sanctification by the Spirit. Christ died for the guilty, the lost, the unworthy. Jesus only has mercy on the guilty. Christ was punished instead of me, and now no penalty can ever fall on me. My sin debts have all been paid for by Christ Jesus Himself, and since God is just, He cannot demand from me what Jesus has already endured for my sake. Substitution is my confidence, because Jesus was accursed for me, and now I am blessed. In Jesus' blood there is sufficient virtue for the putting away of my sins and making Atonement to Almighty God, so that I may be accepted in the Beloved. The great, real, perfect, effectual Atonement was for my guilty soul.

When a soul decides to trust to the Atonement of Christ, that soul is all done with its own righteousness, and all its deeds of human merit, and working out its own way and trying to be saved by its own efforts, in some way or other. The self-righteous carnal mind says, "Christ's Atonement profits me a little, but my human goodness profits me as well." Throw away the delusion of self-righteousness forever. Take Christ Jesus Himself, and have done with your own doings. Away to the Cross, the fountain filled with blood, to the finished substitutionary sacrifice, to the Atonement. Those who are guilty and know it welcome Christ's charity and free pardon.

Come to God blessing Him for His Son's Free Salvation. Love God for His mercy and grace to you, yield yourself up to His service, and by the Holy Sprit be led to live for His glory - this is the fear of the Lord. Salvation by works lowers the standards of God's true Holiness. Salvation by your own doings is sheer delusion. Salvation by human goodness, by your own works, is worse than vanity. Do not seek salvation by rites or ceremonies. Simply trust to Jesus - that is the essential thing, to rely upon Him, that is all. Jesus died for the guilty; His atoning blood was shed for the foul and filthy. Come to Jesus by trusting to His Blood, by submitting to His Righteousness. Jesus still receives the guilty, seek Him now. The man who rejects Jesus Christ is guilty of the worst profanity and vilest blasphemy of making the Almighty God a liar.

I am only a sinner saved by Precious Blood and Amazing Grace. Jesus is the Substitute for the guilty. God is now able to forgive sin, for He has punished my sins on Christ. I trust that Jesus was punished for me. My record is clear before God, for Jesus died for me. You have no merits, but Jesus has infinite merits. You are full of sin and must be punished, but Jesus was punished instead of you, and now God can have mercy on you for Jesus' sake. God can deal with sinners in mercy only through the merits and blood of His dear Son. If you will simply believe in Jesus, that is, trust to Him, all of His merits are instantly your merits, they will be freely imputed to your soul forever. By imputation, a divine miracle of God's grace, every one of Jesus' merits will be transferred to your soul and those merits will make you Righteous in the sight of God forever and ever. You can then stand safely before God in the Righteousness of Christ, because Christ bore your sins and died under the wrath of God as if He were you.

Christ in your place, you in Christ's place - this is called Substitution. Christ is the Substitute for guilty sinners. God could not forgive my sin without first executing the punishment that was due to my sins. So Christ bore my sins and was punished for them, for God is just, and yet the Justifier of whosoever believeth in Jesus. This is the only way of access to God and the free pardon of sin. Christ Jesus is the great Sin Pardoner. Christ suffered on the tree, the Just for the unjust, and now God can be gracious to me without violating His divine justice. I cannot suffer the penalty due to my sins, for Jesus has already suffered all the penalties which divine justice demanded.

The Holy Spirit first leads me to loathe myself, and then to grieve over my sins, and rejoice in Christ Jesus. Christ my Substitute has suffered for me. I cannot believe in the suffering, bleeding, dying Savior who suffered on account of my sins, and yet still continue to love the very sins that put Him to death. A genuine faith in the bleeding Savior is a faith that craves for vengeance upon every form of sin within and without. Thank Jesus often for His free grace, rich mercy, and bleeding love.

Here on earth, Jesus lived, died, and suffered for the sake of sinful mankind. Jesus didn't deserve to die, He was the Perfect One, He voluntarily offered Himself up as the Victim to divine justice, suffering in human flesh, shedding His innocent blood, to vindicate the law and justice of God for me. Christ died to placate God's divine justice and satisfy divine wrath for me. You have sinned against God knowingly and intentionally all your life, your conscience and memory tell you so. You have lived willfully like a child of the devil. You have sinned knowing the penalty of sin, sinned knowing something about right and better things. Be conscious that you have sinned, be humbled before God on account of it, and accept Jesus Christ as the way of Atonement for your sins. Look away now from all your other confidences and rely only upon the sufferings and bloody death of the Incarnate God, the Crucified Creator, Jesus Christ Himself. Jesus only has mercy on the guilty.

Freely 3

Mercy is blooming freely from the crimsoned ground around the foot of the Cross. Goodness is freely given to the undeserving, pardon is extended to the guilty, infinite compassion to the miserable, pure grace to the unworthy rebel sinner. Salvation by grace through faith and the operations of the Holy Ghost. Salvation should make you gentler and kinder to your children, spouse, and employees, a more respectful and diligent servant, more scrupulous and honest to your neighbor, and less of an eye-servant. Free pardon and gracious renewal freely given to the most worthless sinners by their believing in Jesus. Faith in the Precious Blood - this is the only hope of sinful mankind. The atoning Blood is the true medicine from the infallible Physician. Receive forgiveness freely through Jesus' Precious Blood. *Romans 8:32; I Corinthians 2:12; Revelation 21:6; Romans 3:24; Revelation 22:17*

Purity and simplicity of character, warmth of heart, zealous temperament, generous spirit. Childlike simplicity and confidence in Jesus. Preach the Cross in simplicity. Never be a doubting, miserable, carping, critical, fault finding Christian. Don't be irritable, peevish, fretful, pettish, touchy, cranky, waspish, snappish, easily bothered, offended, over sensitive, or ready to take offense. Your self-righteousness is Christ's rival. Human nature harbors evil, and refuses to get rid of its sins. Receive what is freely given. Pardon by Precious Blood, freely given, acting immediately, abiding forever. Be more and more devoted to Jesus Christ. All boasting is excluded by the law of grace. All good is given to us freely by divine favor. In what can we glory? We are still unprofitable servants. Immediate and irreversible pardon is freely given according to God's infinite mercy on sinful men. Free, unmerited grace of God. My only hope lies in the mercy of God who freely forgives offenses. Salvation must be received by faith alone as a Free Gift, or not at all.

The Spirit of the Gospel is this, freely I forgive all your iniquities for Christ's name sake. The simplicity of a childlike faith in Jesus is key. Human nature looks upon sin as a gem, and keeps it hid as a treasure. Human nature would rather lose its soul than part with sinful pleasures. The divine nature from the Holy Ghost sighs and cries over sins, it hates and avoids sin, and it pines and groans over committing sin. Ask for Faith, Seek for Mercy, Knock for Wisdom. God's gifts are given without any requirements or conditions. Come and take freely what God gives you for nothing. Come and accept Repentance and Faith as the gifts of God, and the work of the Holy Ghost. Whosoever, will, freely. Desire Christ, His pardon, a new heart, peace with God, heaven hereafter - take it freely - that is all. Divine mercy freely given for Jesus' sake. Forgive others freely, leave it all with Jesus, resign all to His will. You only need to take what Jesus freely gives.

God's terms are without money and price. Burn your boats, get rid of thoughts of returning to the old world, leave your sins behind, abhor them. The matter of satisfying divine justice is settled by the Great Substitute's blood, and now to me mercy comes freely. Sin is only pardoned by Blood and freely put away by the mercy of God in Christ Jesus. I have been forgiven all my transgressions simply out of free mercy. Come along, do not turn back, take what God freely presents to you. Heavenly pardon bought with Precious Blood. Trust to the Savior God. Superstition abhors simplicity and godly sincerity. Implicit reliance upon the Christ of God. Believe in Jesus implicitly, rest in Him calmly, trust in His Blood steadfastly, take His yoke cheerfully. Get rid of self, let God be magnified. Get rid of the leering eye toward uncleanness. No man can be saved by the Righteousness of Christ while he puts any trust in his own righteousness. Get rid of every filthy rag of self-righteousness. How can I get rid of the guilt which torments my mind, that haunts my memory? The only answer is Precious Blood.

The Gospel freely bestows gifts upon guilty men. The Gospel treats us upon terms of pure mercy. God freely forgives all my sin debts instantly for Jesus' sake. Substitution - Christ Jesus in the sinner's place. Grace must be gratis, salvation is an absolute Gift of God. Mercy is Free. You cannot purchase, procure, earn or produce salvation by merit or deeds, desires, resolves, efforts, sacrifice, service, or endeavors. Salvation comes to us, not because we deserve it, but because we need it. Pardon is absolutely free. All for nothing, all freely given, real pardon for real sin, abiding everlasting pardon. Human nature tries to make a righteousness out of its unrighteousness. Keep to the simplicity of salvation by faith in His Blood. Place implicit faith in simple scriptural truth.

God is good, infinitely good to sinners for Jesus' sake. Receive the perfect righteousness of Christ, abhor your sins, love God, pine to be like Him in holiness. Christ's glorious, spotless righteousness is freely given to every needy sinner. The Spirit's work is Faith, conversion, repentance, renewal, holiness. Salvation is a free gift bestowed upon men by God without regard to any merit. Grace is for the guilty, mercy is for the unworthy and undeserving sinners, not the good and excellent. God's grace flows into unlikely places. God's mercy is bestowed on those who least deserve it. The grace of God, the light of heaven, must come to each man's heart individually from the divine hand, and we must personally receive it. Light is not inherent in any sinner, it must be bestowed upon him. The candle must accept the flame of light, it becomes the candle's own light, and then the candle begins to shine.

Go to Jesus for peace of mind, rest of heart. Free grace and pardoning love. The way of access is freely opened to poor, penitent sinners. Freeness of God's mercy. Everything that God bestows on sinners is given freely and graciously. Mercy is freely given to all who seek it trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ. Surprising grace saves sinners. Everlasting life is given by pure grace to the unworthy. The righteousness of Faith lies not in your delusions or doings, it lies only in reliance upon the finished work of Jesus Christ. Do not try to weave your own robe of righteousness, the garment is already finished; just put it on, Christ gives it to you freely. Christ holds it out to you, take it freely, Christ gives you His Righteousness freely, without works. I deserve no good thing from the hand of a holy God, nevertheless all things come to me by virtue of Christ's merit and blood.

You may use Christ's name at the Bank of Heaven freely. God has given me all things by Jesus Christ, I don't have to go to anybody else to obtain God's blessings. Make your only hope what Christ has done, stick to that, and add nothing to it. Jesus is my All. God's promises are freely given. The only terms are "everything for nothing, Heaven is for the asking." Infinite love and boundless compassion are to be had by any sinner for no price at all; they are freely given to the needy who has no merit of his own with which to purchase them. If a business man began to give way the goods in his store, you would say, "There must be some catch to this." But when the God of heaven who has everything freely gives His salvation to you, His motive is simply pure mercy and compassion. There is no catch. Jesus so freely forgives sinners. Christ wants nothing from you, but that you accept what He freely presents to you.

Come to the foot of the Cross now, and put out your empty, filthy hand and accept what Jesus gives, and everlasting salvation is yours freely. Don't hang yourself, don't argue against your own soul, stop laboring to find reasons why you cannot be saved. The worse off you are, the more you need Jesus. Jesus freely cancels sin debts. Jesus says, "You cannot pay, but I can forgive you freely. Your offenses are all gone, go in peace." Jesus frankly, fully, freely forgives the penitent, penniless sinner. God only gives His priceless blessings to sinners who have no merits, and God must bestow them as a Gift, for Jesus Himself is the Gift of God. Mercy and grace is freely bestowed to me for Jesus' sake.
